I think these are all electronic, The Limousines, Owl City, Shiny Toy Guns, and The Postal Service. Anybody know anymore bands like that? I mostly listen to punk, but I like this stuff, too.

I enjoy many electronic types.
It all started with Daft Punk technically that is French house but I am not going to open that Pandora's box of technicalities. I do prefer Electro-hop, electronica and dubstep but that is not saying I love all of it. Dubstep is new to me but I still like what I have heard.

Ever since i first heard daft punk as a little kid (harder, better, faster, stronger was my first), ive loved it. I prefer the more aggressive sound of things like hardstyle and dubstep, but can also enjoy the smoother sounds of things like trance and psy-chill. Of course, i also enjoy an electronic flavor injected into other genres as well.

Yes but only the old stuff. Mostly Jean Michel Jarre but also some Vangelis and Kraftwerk.
Almost anything newer than that I don't consider music to be honest (exceptions are Pet shop Boys and some Daft Punk).

:O Someone else who actually knows who Jarre and Vangelis are (or, more precisely, knows of Vangelis as more than just the Chariots of Fire and/or Bladerunner OST guy)??? I salute you, friend!

I've become more attuned to electronic music over a few months, more specifically trance, drum & bass, and my favorite genre of music, downtempo.

Also, as others have mentioned, Daft Punk is awesome .

It confuses me how people call "Electronic" a genre of music. Does that make "Organic" a genre too?

Although "organic" is not an antonym of electronic (or synthetic) and it annoys me when people call a record organic just because it has a few live instruments in, it's an effective dichotomy. "Electronic music", despite being such a massive field of music, is grouped together because it encapsulates a different ethos of composition and performance from traditional live music as it has existed for thousands of years.

Anyway, I absolutely love electronic music, particularly anything that sounds atmospheric and spacey. A couple of examples:

The flake period would be roughly 1995-2005 when Reznor was at the height of his fame after the downward spiral, became obsessed with one project (that became the fragile). It wasnt till With teeth that he started to get his act back together and making something that resembled music again. A decade with one vanity project to show during the height of your popularity for it in the music industry is fairly flakey.

I love Year Zero, especially Zero Sum. I dont really find it depressing as much as it was simply something that was the soundtrack for a very depressing part of my life when I was listening to it heavily (2009-2010) especially Zero Sum. 0sum was like an anthem for all the mistakes I had been making in my life and now when I hear it I find that it makes me rather happy because I have lived through that period.

Funny all the unexpected ways music can move ya.

oh no dont get we wrong I really like year zero as well (first album of his I got)

its just its a concept album, and you know about the HUGE alternite reality game that went with it?

so it drives me mad wondering how did this story turn out? (as in America gets taken over by a theorcracy..nuclear war) "the warning" seems to incicate higher beings (aliens?)saying "change your ways or we will wipe this planet clean" and "zero sum" is very haunting...it is the end of the world?

I like to think that the alens fixed everything...but in zero sum it doesnt sound that way (they also reference "ship" in Meet your master)


but yeah I love NIN it seems to hit all the right notes
