Do you like Hip Hop?

I enjoy real hip hop a great deal. Artists like Common, Nas, and other artists with soulful and meaningful music often can pique my interest.

So, what is your opinion of it?

It's funny that you mention those two artists, because I think Nas is great, and I can't stand Common. I think they couldn't be more different.

I don't like most rap but I do really like some of it. But then I would say the same thing about every style of music. I haven't found a style yet that doesn't have some good examples of it that I can enjoy somewhere.

I don't think being "real" is important though. "Authenticity" is never important in music, which is just as well in the case of rap music. Have you ever wondered why rappers make such good actors?

Buck 65, Sage Francis, Busdriver, Lupe Fiasco and dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip would be my favourites.

In my opinion.

Basic reasoning comes down to how a lot of it* seems to be about how great the artist is and how they treat women like shit, have sex all the time, and have lots of money.

Pretty much the only reason I put mostly in my opinion of new Hip Hop, that song is awesome.

I'm not a huge fan but I do like some rap and R&B so whether or not you regard that as hip-hop depends on my answer. The sad thing is that I know so many people who judge these musical genres without even listening to it, sure they listen to the generic crap that all the D-bags are all into, but then they never hear the good stuff.

Hip hop is the culture. Rap is one of the elements of artistic expression within that culture. MC is the person who entertains the crowd. That person doesn't have to be a rapper as long as he/she keeps the party going.
