I'm kind of ambivalent towards it, and it's better than what my parents were originally going to call me, which is Kim. I wouldn't have survived primary school...

Dom is a pretty inconvenient name though, because whenever I introduce myself to someone they immediately say "Nice to meet you Tom." to which is say "No, Dom" "Oh, sorry Don""No, DOM " "Oh my god, I'm so sorry John!"

Seriously, some people honestly must be faking it, because I have no idea how they could get "Tim" or "Joel" from that...

I'm John David, two of the most common names in the whole freaking world...but I like them both. I was named after both of my grandfathers, so it feels like an added connection to them both. Especially since my one grandfather died a few months before I was born, so I never got to meet him.

At work, I'm John, and hate being called otherwise. Sure, if someone jokingly calls me "Johnny", I won't mind it too much, but my nickname is off-limits. To my friends, I'm J.D.: a simple nickname, had it since I was a wee li'l tike. According to Meaning-of-Names(dot)com, John is defined as "Jehovah has been kind; has shown favor", and David (as a Scottish name) means "Beloved or friend". Meh; I'm alright with any of the meanings.

Just...don't call me by my middle name. There's so many Davids in the world, I doubt I'll acknowledge you if you did. Actually.....just thinking about it sorta...irks me. Don't know why, though...

I don't like my name, but sometimes people call me "Ash" which is slightly less common and reminds me of that Red wannabe from the Pokemon anime.

Also, it's a dog's name. I'm forever running into people who are like `Oh, I have/had a dog called Lucy!`. You dont say...

OP: Leanne, s'alright. It's not my favourite name in the world but it's pretty inoffensive. My only problem with it is that everyone seems to spell it differently.

I like me name, I was named after my grandfather who I was never able to meet, nor my mother because he passed on when she was very young. But my nan would always say how much I reminded her of my grandfather, which made me feel proud to have taken up his name.
It also means king...or "great ruler" in German...so go me I guess.

No I do not, I hate both my first and last names.
Christian, too long and for some reason really hard for some people to say, I sometimes abbrieviate it to Chris but that is extremely common where I live.
It also means "follower of God" in Latin which is just.. Ugh.

My last name litterally means "stone-less" in my language, so that's also.. Yeah.

My first name is fairly rare and I get a lot of compliments, though sometimes I wish I had a more common name if only because I feel my name is more memorable when I meet people and I am usually at a disadvantage trying to remember the bland names of you plebians ;P.

My last name on the other hand I despise... it is very ethnic sounding which is not a bad thing in itself but I am not of the ethnicity that my name suggests and whenever I have to explain that to people who make the assumption, they always give me a disappointed look.

Nathan: I'm fairly indifferent about it.

While it isn't super common (globally) it also isn't exactly rare. It just so happened to be the most popular name in my high school class with a total of 5 Nathans. Our class size was about 80 people. My last name also happened to be the most common last name in my class with 3 people sharing it, but is actually a rare name except for the high concentration in my home town. Huzza for statistical abnormalities.

It is also somewhat ironic as Nathan means something to the effect of "God will give/Gift of God" and I am ignosostic towards the concept of God. Still I like it better than Scott which was what my name was originally going to be. Fortunately a cousin of mine took that bullet.

I like my name ... since i have a first name (Tobias, most call me Toby) a second name (Robert, some call me Bobby (I hate that)) and a third name (Andreas, almost no one calls me Andy) which, I suppose, is not very common in Germany...
And my family name is really hard to pronounce for foreigners (vacation in London led to many interesing variations of pronouncing), so I love to make them call me by my last name.

I really like my name. It's short and catchy, whilst having the distinctiveness of being rather uncommon and unique in that it's only three letters, spelled full-out.

Simultaneously, it's unique but not "out there". Random passerby will immediately recognize it as a name that people sometimes use.

Always loved it.

It's not common at all. There's about 3000 of us overall. Oddly enough about 2000 have my last name, but there's still half a dozen with the same first and last name than me. Maybe tells how well they go together, despite being quite different.

And it's from an old national epic where it is legendary magical artifact, of partly indeterminate type, that gave good fortune, produced gold and couple of other resources. It's even said it could grind out different world ages. So that's cool as well.

I like it, since it doesn't rhyme with anything I never had to suffer any rhyming insults as a kid. Got teased enough for not having a right ear anyway, so if I had a name that rhymed with ear I probably would have ended up killing myself.
That said, if I ever want to move to an English speaking country I will have to change my name, since it's pronounced 'Aryan'. I wouldn't be comfortable with that.
