Im reaching level 50 in Black Ops, and I was wondering how many people have prestiged and why? (Im not just talking about Black Ops, but any game that has that option). Ive never seen the point of going through all that work, just to throw it away for abit of ingame status and maybe a few badges. If the game(s) offered new weapons, gadgets etc, then maybe Id consider it. Whats your opinion?

Yea I do, I like having the rank thats above the other players, and it's usually not hard to get back to where you were.

To me, the whole point of ranking up is for the new unlocks. Why would i want to lose them all again for a purely aesthetic badge?

Although, i only ever reached like, level 54? What level do you get the golden deagle in CoD4? That's where i reached.

I don't because it's silly. I just unlocked a shit-ton of guns, so why would I want to lose them all? For a little badge? Bragging rights? Hell naw!

It gets a little boring once you've gotten all your ideal loadouts finished. Prestiging is interesting at first, you start to discover new ways of playing, but it very quickly become frustrating when it starts taking multiple hours to reach the next rank. Although I haven't played Black Ops yet, so maybe the new system for unlocking weapons improves the situation.

No not at all

After all that work I did to unlock those perks I don't wanna do that that again.

I'm good with the first level besides all I do anyway is go online and play for fun or Zombies

I've yet to prestige, but I definitely intend to do it. As cheesy as it may sound, it shows you've achieved something that others haven't.

Of course i use a prestige class... going from Cloistered Cleric to Radiant Servant of Pelor at level 6, for a massive boost in undead turning and healing capabilities... wait... wrong game...

I prestiged once purely because I needed the extra custom class slot for scrim classes. I wouldn't do it again.

I find the joy in leveling, I feel it also extends the life of a game. (Also, it took me just over 24 hours of play time (meaning actually in a game not in lobbies) to be able to prestige.
Also, every time I prestige I use different guns for example, I never used the AK74u, or a runner class. So, I did the logical thing and tried both at the same time.

i prestige. but you are right, theres no sense in "prestiging" in black ops. in mw2, you can't get some emblems without prestige, but in bo it's completely senseless ...

I haven't played CoD long enough to be given the choice. If given the choice it would undoubtedly be no. I like having silly amounts of weapons to choose from.

Yes.

Because after you reach the highest level there is the game gets boring. So I prestige for the extra character slot and to keep the game feeling fresh.

EDIT: You forgot the poll options there buddy.
