I don't know, the character design looks really off-putting. It's just the mix of trerile prosthetics and a very large behind, it just lands right in the uncanny valley for me.

A shame, since whoever created the game clearly put a lot of effort into his baby. The gameplay looks dynamic and well thought out. I just wish the fanservice was if not toned down, then made optional.

Nothing against T&A, it just seems to conflict with the rest of the game, instead of complimenting it. As if I'm playing one of those erotic Skyrim mods.
Maybe there is a reason why there is a facility with an unlimited quantities of disposable Sexy Cyborgs?
As far I hear, there is a story, but only if you care to follow.
Like Dark Souls really....[please don't kill me]

Wait this is the game that character is from?

I've seen fan art of her(it?) and I almost always got on Overwatchish feel from the designs from said pieces

The character take VERY heavily from characters from Warframe:

I suppose part of the problem is that one artist I follow has a few pictures of Haydee but around the same time got into Overwatch and mentioned something about that one robot behind tracer in some of the first promo shots.

That one, the one with the eye. SO I suppose I got mixed up when pictures of this robot girl showed up on their blog.

All I have to say about the character design is...

....wait this is that bad? Dude. I keep mature viewing turned off and don't look at porn and I've seen worse and weirder. Is this really THAT bad?

Thicc jokes aside, serious question for anyone who's been paying more attention than I have:

She's a "pleasure model" robot escaping from literal sex slavery, right? That's the whole point of the game's setting? A seemingly sentient mind built for one base purpose, stripped of all but the "necessary" parts her creation demands and given no voice, face, or personality to call her own?

Because if so, the absurd mash-up of Drossel Von Flugel and an especially voluptuous Sorayama pin-up is probably designed from the ground up to be more grotesque than appealing to the average player. And that's... actually kind of brilliant. Even if it's hardly "appealing" in any rational sense.

Sympathy for A Real Doll as a sterile cyberpunk survival-horror game is exactly the kind of ridiculous but potentially interesting concept I didn't think I wanted until somebody waved it in front of my face.

The fact that it, surprisingly looks like a competent fusion of old Resident Evil and Tomb Raider games isn't hurting.

Jim today posted his opinion and other opinions from Steam Store.
Here is a comment which tells what Jim think of the game:

"From what I?ve played of it, Haydee is an amusing curiosity that?s vastly more entertaining when coupled with others? reactions to it. It?s a great catalyst for genuinely fun content, but the game on its own? I can?t say I see the appeal, outside of the jigglingly obvious."

So maybe he compare it somehow similary with the Five Nights at Freddies games? Lot of fun reactions from youtubers being a bad game [in his oponion]?
Meh, I love FNAF games and I think I will love this as well.
Before tou comment, yes, FNAF games have great mystery stories, but Haydee in return have a refreshing punshing game which I love.
To understand what kind of games I like here is a good reference:

Not a fair comparison, but you get the idea. 10/10 btw for this game. Best funniest punishing game ever.

Difficult games are simple good even sotetimes unfair.

It looks like they modeled her curves after Kim Kardashian or something. Wonder if she'll get royalties for them using her likeness.

Anyways, it's at least as disturbing as it could be arousing. I'm almost thinking it's deliberately mocking modern female image norms in pop culture.

It just speaks to me, more than anything, of incompetent character design. If the effort was to make a quirky but sexy character, they've failed; she's a blandish imitation of ipod/Portal robot design, combined with unconvincing jiggle physics and comical body proportions. If she was meant to be a weird robot who is sexy within the context of the world (that is to say, if she was some sex robot designed by a futuristic, sexist society), it also fails in that I would have a hard time thinking some future pervert would want a woman to look like this - they've surely want something with an impossibly shaped anime girl or superhero body? To take Bayonetta for example, a lot of players don't actually find her sexy, but they can still easily buy the idea that she is meant to be sexy and is convincingly sexy to the people in her world. Looking at this game though, I have no idea what the devs are trying to say.

Whatever the intention was of the character design, it fails. And its exacerbated by an overly close third person view in a game that appears to be platforming based, whilst in tight tiny rooms. That probably annoys me more than any issues one could have with sexist videogame characters.

Of course I remember this game! It has the weird blancmange boob woman with no face in it! How could I forget.

I'm concerned for anyone who finds that thing sexy.

To be entirely honest, this game could be brilliant and I still wouldn't play it because I have no interest in playing as a faceless boob monster.
Also, the way the game is treating her as fairly disposable (given the amount of bodies of (clones of?) the heroine you came across) coupled with the pretty creepy character design just ups the ICK factor for me.
You realize this is a gameplay trailer right? It tells us VERY little of the actual story beyond the existence of robots, and some of those robots are bootyliscious for some reason. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to find out the disposability is a plot point.

Don't you just LOVE japanese games because of that?
I had this feeling for a while that the "representation" crowd should absolutely adore anime.
They do, right?
Japan has it's own issues with female representation, namely a lack of female character designs (and characterizations) that don't serve a primary purpose of appealing to men.
You know, I've always wanted to know, did you ever see the series your avatar comes from?

I did. I also stopped watching after one of the seasons because the protagonist is so incredibly boring and the constant need to throw every last female character either into his harem or into scenarios ripped straight from To Love-Ru or some other shitty harem show. It's a shame, really, because the setting is pretty interesting when it's not focused on their protagonist saying the same line over and over again right before winning every fight.
I think the 4-koma Manga version is great in my opinion.
Well the formula to make a joke get old fast, but the pay off are always solid.
Wait, Love-Ru? The avatar isn't from this.

You know, I hear the guy crating this game only embraced the whole "sex sells" thing after some lewd artwork was created of his character.

Seems to me he's not trying to cause a moral panic, but rather just playing the hand his potential market has dealt him. Making the best of what he's got. He seems to take it lightheartedly, in my opinion.

I don't get the feeling that this is as outright or blatant as say, your Quiet-type characters (which are still perfectly fine) I don't realistically see people getting upset because of the design of this character however I wouldn't be surprised if some angry people start filling diapers over this character. The internet is where you go for unrealistic human reaction, after all.
At this point, developers seem to be noticing that you can just capitalize on people who get easily outraged over trivial things to do the marketing for you. It's a smart move, kind of.

Wait, Love-Ru? The avatar isn't from this.
The avatar is from A Certain Magical Index (or the Railgun spinoff, I can't remember which exactly), and I don't remember there being any 4-koma manga for either of them. Though, again, It's been a while since I've bothered to care about the series so maybe there is one now. To Love-Ru only came up as a reference to the sort of nonsense that dragged the series down in my opinion.
Oh wow.
Then I am truly sorry because I made a terrible mistake.
The character you have for avatar look like EXACTLY like a character in 4-koma I used to read.
I don't remember its name, but it was a story of agirl to win the heart of a fuu who is drawing doujins.
Hilarious cpmic as I said.

EDIT: I REMEMBERED! It is from Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun the girl I told you.

Huh. She looks a lot more pleasant than Kuroko. Less likely to kill you for talking to her senpai at least.

That's... not sexy. Not to me. At all.

Not even on a bare minimum baseline glassy-eyed-blond-pronstars-pretending-to-orgasm level.

It feels like stumbling across someone else's porn that caters to a fetish so obscure I wouldn't even recognize it as such if it wasn't for the prominently visible butt.
Yeah, tits and ass is a really obscure fetish.

Only when they aren't attached to a human body (at least until sex-bots become a thing).
