Our first words are an important step in our lives. They show that we have control over our lips and toungues to express thought. It's a marvellous thing. Do any people here remember their first words? What were they?

I know I do. It was around the Christmas season, and we were watching the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer claymation movie. Do you guys remember the song "There's always tomorrow"? Well, those were my first words, and I sang them.

EDIT: You know, 2000 posts in and you'd think I'd have learned a thing or two. If a mod is reading this, kindly move this to the 'Off-Topic' forums. Thank you.

I'm nearly 44, so I'm going to have to say 'No, no I really don't'! I can remember my two older kids first words though and they are 18 and 15 years old (the youngest is only 7 months and talks the usual baby babble atm with the odd 'mummmm', thrown in)

I'm told it was 'bump.'

I fell over a lot as a child. My sister's first word was 'no'. I think that pretty much set her up for life.

I myself don't rember, but my parents told me it was "truck." You see, I was obsessed with two things back then: trucks and dinosaurs. My first word shows the former.

My first word was bubble. I think I said it because the soap my Mom put in my bubble bath was called Mr. Bubble.

Those may not be my first words, but now they're my most recent.

Triceratops.

Obviously it was horribly mispronounced. But yeah, I was one of those kids obsessed with dinosaurs.

I don't remember it, but according to my parents my first word was "car". So obviously I had to become a car enthusiast just so that it fits. I'm also told my first sentence was "My mouth likes chocolate."

Umm, no, because I developed language skills quite quickly, and way too early for me to remember. I don't even know if my parents remember. It was probably 'mum' or 'dad' or a variation thereof.

I doubt many people actually remember. One doesn't usually remember their first two or three years at all. I'm told mine was "light."
