People always say to others whether this game is worth a Rent or not

but does anyone really rent games ?

i don't like the idea since if you want ot rent a game it's useally a short blast that only last a few days till you have to give it back in.

but there are SO MANY factors like the game is awesome or the game is terrible for e.g. but renting always seems to come up

why ?

cause if a game is awesome then it's worth the money

if it's terrible then you should avoid it

my questions are

1. Do you rent ?

2. Whats your opinion on it ?

Oh, I thought you ment reant a house or unit (which I do).

Yup, sure do rent. I just rented out Killzone 2 the other day. It was a good experience as it showed me that I don't need to buy the game right away as it's good but not going to last me ages, so now I can wait until I can get it secondhand and pretty cheap and still enjoy it.

It's useful to rent, gives you an idea of what you're in for.

I used to rent when I was very young as it was a way of getting more games but easier than nagging my parents into a full purchase. I remember on Saturday afternoons picking out something for my Mega Drive, Saturn or N64.

1) The highlights of my renting period were probably Kid Chameleon, Dynamite Heady and that South Park shooting game for the N64.

2) I think that with the rise of easily downloadable demos it seems a bit pointless. I can understand it from the point of view of non-gaming parents but as and when I have kids I imagine I'll still be taking an interest so know what to get them.

"I don't own emotion, I rent."

How many drama nerds get the reference?

Anyway no i do not rent. I buy games and if i want to try them out chances are a friend pirated them so i can play for a bit and then decide if i want it or not. Usually i just buy and hope for the best. The only games i have tried before this gen are Dead Space and Burnout: Paradise which i ended up getting both.

No I do not rent games and I think that it is stupid to rent games. I would rather take my chances on a referral and hope for the best.

I never rent games.

I normally know enough about a game to decide whether I am buying it or not.

I personally don't mind renting games. I'd rather find out a game is good or bad and only pay a few bucks for it rather than shelling out $60 and being pissed because the game sucks.

I have a Gamefly account since I know for certain which games I will buy and which I'll rent.

This one speaks the truth.
The reason I rent is to play below average games. Everything needs at least a test run before it gets flamed to death.

I don't rent and here's why:

There is a used game/movie/music store where I live (an independent called "Cool Stuff"). I can buy a used game there, sell it back when I'm done and actually spend less in the long run than a rental; this is a practice they actually recommend at the store. They get business and I get to save on playing my game. Everybody wins.

A lot of my friends do it in a stupid way (ie: renting final fantasy chronicles, renting MSG3...etc.)

I'd probably do it to rent things that interest me but are repetitive or short. Like if I had a PS3 I'd have rented Mirror's Edge or Killzone 2...

But since I have a PC, no, I don't rent.

I have never rented a game. I just wouldn't know where to go! Any Dutch-man or -woman know a proper shop where you can rent PC games? Or perhaps a PS2/PS2 game combination for a reasonable price?

What you own -Rent. Viva la vie boheme!

I used to rent games to try them out once upon a time when I was a real sad case, living alone and eating the same meal out of the freezer for weeks. Now I just buy them because I can afford them and my brother gives me an awesome discount.

I haven't rented a game since the PS1, but there's nothing "wrong" with the practice. It's a business transaction, one of several a consumer can choose to experience a game, not a moral statement.

Why would someone not "like" rentals, in general? You object to the existence of another choice?

I do rent games on occasion. If I'm uncertain about a game then a quick test run never hurts to clear things up.

If it's good, then I'll save up to get the game.

If it isn't, then I know to avoid it while I warn others and I've only wasted £2.50 in the process (rather than the full price of £35-£40).

I primarily play on the PC so I don?t really rent games.
I used to every time I got a good report card or progress report when I was a Kid (which was every time :p) It was a big deal to go rent a NES title and eventually SNES title. When I was that age it was never really to see if I liked the game for a future purchase. Although when I was in college and not eating so well, renting was a pretty viable option as opposed to dropping the money for a game that I wouldn?t have time to play as I was studying, playing hockey, and being a dramanerd. With free demo downloads on my PS3 though this seems like it might be dying out. I am starting to wonder if i should rent from a local place that adds rental to the price of a purchase, seems like a good option for the Wii, which doesn't so much have demos.

I refuse to admit to the existance of overrated musicals.

I still rent (gamefly) because it costs less than buying the amount of games I play throughout the year. I don't base my choices off other people's reviews unless I trust their judgment, or the game quality is evident in the videos/screens.
