I still rent (gamefly) because it costs less than buying the amount of games I play throughout the year. I don't base my choices off other people's reviews unless I trust their judgment, or the game quality is evident in the videos/screens.

I've said it before, gamefly is the cheapest way to play. I've rented about 10 games in 2009 so far for only $40. Not talking old games either. I still might buy one or two titles this year but only after I try it and use my discount. It's really the only way I could afford to play all the games that come out.

Let's face it:
Hardly any game needs or deserves to be replayed, and most aren't designed to last more than 10 hours (if it's not multiplayer).

Renting is always a good idea, if the game wasn't good you have lost a dollar and if it's good just buy it afterwards.

Unless it's a long epic like MGS (quality ensured), or a game you have to own for collector/fandom reasons, just rent it

I spontaneously RENT all the time!

Five hundred twentyfive thousand six hundreedd miinnuuutes! [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8iTeDl_Wug]

Oh wait... you meant... games...

Yeah I haven't done that in a long time to be honest. I've been buying a lot of games lately, and been saying that I should rent this or that game which is 'good' but 'short' but never actually doing it. Yeah I suck

I use gamefly to rent games.. it's very very rare that after I beat a game, that I go back and replay it " there are a few I do but not that many"

so for me, I like renting the game, keeping it until I beat it, be it a few days or a few weeks, then sending it back, if it has a high replay value then I'll buy it off gamefly, or go to gamestop and pick it up used " I rarely get anything NEW NEW unless it's something I KNOW will stay in my collection for good."

Used to rent cos i didnt have money to buy games, but having a job does have its good side xD Some people do some bad things tho to those rental games tho, if your disc is scratched for example rent the game n swap it. Which is really really bad form imo.

Gamefly has saved me so many times from buying a game that is crap, and like Matronadena said, most games I'm down with quickly and if it has replay value the option to keep what your renting for cheap makes it even sweeter.

Gamefly, games are 60 bucks and often with no replay value these days, so I rent it, and return it. That's why I'm not going to buy the game that I personally think is horrible, RE5 (which is better than 4, but still crap), but I will rent it because my friend really wants to play co-op with me. And it might be better than the demo, at least.
