Do you think that Dexter would be caught in real life?

Okay, for those who've seen the Dexter series or read the books (about the murder, not about the genius midget), do you think that Dexter would get caught by the police? Honestly, yes, at least once somebody's eventually gotta stumble upon his tools or slides, or pass by his little "plastic murder chambers".

Also, on a side note. I think that a good theme song for the series would be Dorsia by John 5. Only cause it's scary, insane and cool. Although it'd be a bit too much considering it's metal. Don't think that'd be a good thing for a show like that.

I've never saw Dexter, but from what I know, yes, he should be caught. In fact it's a testament to the police's stupidity in that series if they still haven't got him.
He's a pro. And Miami doesn't have the best police force in the world.

Allegedly.

Well...depends. Some of his kills on the Tv show were abit fantasy like, while a bunch of them made sense. He was also extremely carefull, but in real life I don't think he would kill one person or two every week or so.

Maybe he will get caught. It'd be a good way to end a series / book on a cliffhanger.
I'd possibly be crushed. They'd either give him the electric chair or give him a medal and some cookies to go with.

That would not be a cliffhanger. Thats a definite end. Still, I think that would be good.

Of course he would get caught... He doesn't even have a Deathnote.

Speaking of Deathnote!... It's a much better series than Dexter. Hell, even Dexter [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mqf6N7_U2uY] is better than Dexter. I mean, with beards that rugged, how can there be a doubt in your mind?

I think it really depends on your interpretation of the miami police force. If you think its all like CSI then he would be caught. But if its hard to pin somebody down for murder. Or even find evidence linking them to it, he might get away with it.

Then again, they wouldnt be putting a guide on tv for how to get away with murder. A lot of people would be doing it if that was the case.

No, I don't think the books version would, for a number of reasons:
- His foster-father, who was a successful cop, trained him for almost a decade so that he wouldn't get caught by the cops.
- He works with the cops and therefore knows how they work and can even tamper with any evidence.
- He plans every murder for weeks to make sure that he won't make any mistakes, be it with the act itself or concerning the victim's guilt.
- He often makes one murder a month, tops.
- He gets rid of the body in different ways every time and then in very remote locations.
- He is one lucky S.O.B.

The one from the series isn't as thorough and often acts on complete impulse, and also lacks the might of the Dark Passenger.

Quite possibly, but being fiction it can change facts a bit. I wouldn't want him to get caught though, who else would crack dark jokes for me?

Maybe, maybe not.

Jack The Ripper
The Zodiac Killer
The Servant Girl Annihilator
The Axeman of New Orleans

These serial killers were never caught.

Dexter's main flaw is that he's a sociopath. I highly doubt he can keep this a secret forever.
