This list [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Roleplaying#Old_Format_Articles] is absolutely hilarious. What really terrifies me is that I hope it´s a joke but I just know there are people out there who do those things. Just like those people who mod some nude slave elves into there games and... do it while watching them. I have seen screenshots of mods... still haunts me
It's not that unusual. It's a fairly small but strong community of individuals that just... they really get into the game. Like, wear wizard robes in front of their computers kind of get into the game. Pretty much any role-playing game has them.

I've seen the 'elf slave girls' on TESNexus.. Just search for "girls". I wanted to find a voice replacment, and came across tons of "pretty" "sexy" "seductive" slave girls. HONESTLY. WTF.

As for that list, I could get into a few. I don't mind roleplaying, as long as it isn't too extreme. I could roleplay to be a part time bandit, no problem. Take up a good spot along a highway/road and ambush people that come across. Nick their belongings and dump their bodies off a cliff or hide them somewhere. Maybe start your own naked-corpse-collection.

There are some limits, however: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Roleplaying/Teacher

That is just retarded.

And this one!

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Roleplaying/Exile

If your character was a more dark, evil person you can lock them in the secret door in the Battlehorn Castle Training Room. (The one where you find Lord Kain and a Lich.) To do this you need the official mod and all you have to do is use the candle to open the door, then use the candle again and quickly run in the doorway. It will close behind you and you will be permenently locked in a darkened area, with no chance of escape.

Why the hell would you want to do that?!

(bump)

Also I don't suppose anyone has found any working ragdoll/moveable bodies mods? The ones I did find were made in 2006 and made useless by Shivering Isles. Of course, they were never updated for the expansion.

Yeah well some of them are okay... I can´t seem to find one that was there the last time I checked, it was basically about being an archaeologist, collecting artefacts from aleyd ruins, then grab a brush with the "grab/move things" button and perform sweeping motions over the item to brush the dust off. Yeah.

I'm going to have to report my 7th murder, yet another accident. I was jumped by a highwayman and behind me was a civilian, just happened to walk that road as well. When he saw that the highwayman attacked me, he tried to help me out.

Unfortunately for him, I'm still just a silly blonde girl with an oversized sword. Chop said my claymore, but not to the highwayman.

It's not too terrifying or hilarious, really. It's just a bunch of bored gamers getting creative in their attempts to milk some more fun out of Oblivion. They're essentially trying to repurpose the game to be something it wasn't intended to be.

On one hand, sure, it's kinda pathetic - the game's over, move on. On the other hand, hey, they're being creative - that should be commended, not mocked. What kind of jerk would you have to be to say somebody is not allowed to use their imagination?

They can do whatever they like, and I can find myself in some of these 'roles'.. but that one just stood out. I mean, I'll quote again:

"It will close behind you and you will be permanently locked in a darkened area, with no chance of escape."

My apologies, I know I did take you a bit out of context there.

So, about that. Here's the thing - if you're already running around doing all this crazy stuff in order to try to re-purpose Oblivion to be entertaining with your imagination, then why not lock yourself in a room? It's just trying to find a different experience than the game normally offers, so it's really no different than if you were to do any of the other things listed. Granted, it's probably more of a last resort, done when you're so very bored of the game you don't care if you can leave a locked room or not.

I still play Oblivion but I have it for the 360 for me. If I ever get a gaming PC, Oblivion will probably be the first thing I install.

I love Oblivion, more then Fallout 3, mostly because of the level cap I think, it sucks that I cannot raise my stats in Fallout 3 anymore, probably why I don't like it as much.

With all it´s different races and possible classes, even if you install only the good quest mods, Oblivion provides you with a million hours of playtime and a giiiiant world full of action, adventure and quests. But those people still come to a point where the last thing they could do is going into a house and never leaving it because they want to roleplay as an agoraphobic argonian? I don´t see how this is anything but insane. This is worse than playing 10 WoW-characters at the same time.

Yet I don´t want to offend you, I don´t get mad about this or anything. More like "what the f*ck".

is it possible to play oblivion for half a year?
Yes. Even without mods. Thank the baby jesus I'll be getting it for my new rig because my 360 copy is worn the fuckout. Which is why I don't play it anymore.

I just jumped into a random Fortress dungeon and the game (or Fransesco's mod) decided to spawn one motherf***er of a boss.

His name was a very uninspiring "Hans the Marauder". Really nasty guy, lots of healing potions by the looks of things and awesome equipment. Thank you, Hans. Thank you for your Orcish Shield, magical boots (+65 feather!), an ebony katana and other stuff.

As you can see, I always sport quite an arsenal..... even though most of those weren't mine.

I play Oblivion on the 360 and I love it. It's an awesome game. I am currently 100 hours into it and I haven't touched the main quest after leaving the dungeon at the very beginning.

The only thing keeping me from throwing Oblivion in the junker is mods. It's the mod community (and more specifically, Planet Elder Scrolls) that keeps the game going.

You know, I played through all of Oblivion once and that was enough for me. Yes, I enjoyed it, but I can't imagine picking it up again. You go from average, to weak, to Godlike in the first 10 hours then spend the rest of your time fighting the same 8 daemons without breaking a sweat. If I want to be superman with a sword and run around being master of the universe then my day dreams are enough for me. They only last 10 minutes, not 70 hours.
