Yeah, I use MSN.
Although about 30 of my 70 contacts haven't been online for a LONG time.
I still have a few people who are constantly online whom I enjoy chatting to, and it's much more personal than Facebook or social networking sites.
I also use Skype on occasion, but only for video calls. As well as Steam for my gaming buddies.

Well I usually use Trillian because I have a few friends on AIM, a few on Yahoo, a few on MSN, etc and it's easier than having all the separate programs open at once. But yeah, I still use IM. I'd rather drink battery acid than get on that Facebook crap, or as I usually like to call it, Dramabook, as almost everyone I know who says anything about them using it usually ends up saying "I deleted my account because I got sick of all the drama." I guess some people take that shit way too seriously, and since I feel I have no use for it anyway, it's easier to stay off.

But yeah people still use IM, just not as much as the good ol' days. Now if you'll excuse me I need to tell those damn neighbor kids to get off my lawn. =P

I still use it to contact my friends quite a bit.
But your friends may have changed email accounts?
People seem to do that all the time

I'm using Miranda, a multiprotocol messenger, for ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber (GTalk), Facebook, and Skype (tho Skype itself needs to be running, the bit**).
So i pretty much don't care if there are only 2 active contacts remaining on my MSN list (1 in Yahoo). ICQ is still somewhat alive.

I still use it, because most of my friends do. I don't use social networking sites or anything, so if I didn't then most of them wouldn't have any other way to contact me. They might actually have to *shock horror* see me in real life! Or call me.
THIS! In our group, I'm usually the one who experiments with new programs (while everyone around me groans and complains), and it's usually a failure because we're all still on MSN and doing the same stuff as three years ago.

Well, I don't think it's the fact that it's becoming less popular so much your friends just don't use it anymore, maybe they've all grown out of it?
I use it nearly everyday, all of my friends that I hang out with are all on my msn and facebook friends lists... Not too mention we all have cell phones with decent texting plans so theres that too.

I had to delete my MSN account because someone hacked it and was pretending to be me and then sending dodgy links to people.

But I lost interest in it, my friends hardly use it now either. I think we all just grew up, we have lives of our own and don't have so much time to spend just chatting on it. If we need to talk we text, phone or use Facebook. But it's all more of a convenience than a form of entertainment.

Yes this exact same thing happened to me, even my best friends who used to be on it all the time rarely use it now and I find its harder to get in touch with people MSN used to make it easy with, basically social networking has destroyed it when all social networking really is, is non instant messaging, basically its a step backwards.

Yes I do. Not as the social tool that sucks away all your free time as a teenager, but to catch up with people that I don't see every day, or too discuss something with people that could also have been discussed on phone or via text-message - only without the bills.

Oh, and I also use it to keep in touch with people who I have only met online. There is nothing like an e3-conference that is seen while rambling fanboy stuff to other fanboys.

Well, here in Argentina, MSN is still very popular. I don't know about the US or the rest of the world, but since I've been here, I've been accustomed to having my MSN open at all times, even if Facebook does have that integrated chat system. Something that has been dead for sometime for me though, is definitely AIM. I haven't used that in years.

My computer broke and when I finally got it back I forgot re-install MSN. I only use Steam nowadays.
