Almost everyone in my school year used MSN last year. Now there is only one or two who are on there as they all now use Facebook chat ¬_¬

At the moment I switch between MSN, Skype and Google Talk but also here on the Escapist is a fairly large group of friends who none of the afore mentioned IM services.

No all you do is collect a bunch people you hardly know. I never remember who they are.

Msn? Yes it works great, and unlike facebook chat actually sends messages to people rather than thinking they've gone off-line over and over.

Oh and you can send files etc across it as well

I did for a while, that's what I downloaded. Then around a year after that, I looked at it and it turned out I was using Windows Messenger (When it looked good). That really surprised me, but I do still do call it MSN.

I'm on MSN whenever I'm at my PC. I never used to like it, but I prefer it to other IM software and I don't use voice chat.

Still using it to keep in touch with people. Still popular over here in the Netherlands, mostly because it's been around for so long.

Also, since I deleted my hyves and still refuse to start a facebook, I'm somewhat condemned to it.

Anti-Microsoft so hell no. I use Google Talk.

I also dislike Facebook so I don't use that either.

I use MSN to stay in touch with a couple of friends that don't use Facebook. MSN tends to be the most popular IM application in the UK, not many people use AIM here.

I use Facebook to keep in touch with people that don't use MSN or have my phone number, however that's only messages, I gave up on Facebook's chat thing, it's just too slow and buggy.

It's actually Windows Live Messenger, but me and my friends have always called it MSN or just 'messenger'.

When i was a younger teenager i remember [footnote]Christ, saying that makes me feel old...[/footnote] how MSN used to be really popular. It was the bane of teachers and parents who saw it as distracting us from our homework, and I remember spending most of my evenings chatting away on MSN, making friends with people who i wouldn't have normally met, and all in all, having a fun time.

Anyway, then i go off to university. And due to some over-zealous and confusing firewalling on the university internet system, which has royally buggered my laptop over, i couldn't use MSN whilst i was at university. I eventually come back home, and nobody seems to be on MSN anymore.... Typically there is less than half a dozen people online for me now, and all those old friends i used to talk to are no longer online, so i'm losing touch with them.

So, do you often use MSN, or indeed Skype, Yahoo or AIM or whatever? Do you think these instant messaging services are less popular than they used to be? Or are my friends just being anti-social?
cellphone mate. it's all about texting now. and yeah, facebook and the such have funner (i can also look at your pics later) interactions.
