Does New Korean Game Rip Off Team Fortress 2?

To be honest, I think this looks like good fun. I'm not saying it isn't ripping off TF2, but that doesn't really bother me. TF2 had a working formula until they added the unlockables, which I felt kinda made it hard for the more casual players without the bonus weapons to perform as well. So I don't really feel any resentment to something taking queues from it if it can offer a new refreshing experience. I'm looking forward to this.

I'm planning to repeat a couple of what people said before, but just to "balance" out the crowd that wants blood..

The video was heavily, heavily influenced by the TF2 "Meet The.." videos. You don't really need the side-by-side comparison for that, a couple of the shots do look very familiar to it. To call the video a rip-off... well, again, heavily influenced.

Now, to call the game a rip-off... that's jumping the shark. As people have said before, the game plays differently to TF2 (no classes, more like a RPG TPS) according to the site, and while the general "theme" or "vibe" is very TF2-esque - toy soldiers and/or bright colours isn't really licensed by Valve.

However, I think the people over there that made the game went about defending this the wrong way. You'd have to be blind not to notice the similarities to the Meet the... videos. To say that the gameplay will be different.. well, we haven't played the game, so we can't judge that. Comment on the video, and perhaps admit that the video took a few liberal... er, took heavy influence from the TF2 videos.

To be honest, I'm not sure why they released a video like that if they wanted to show that the gameplay would be different. Did the guys at marketing run out of ideas or something?

I dunno, it's a class-based multiplayer FPS. They're all pretty similar to me, except instead of looking like action figures here and in TF2 they're all muddy grey rubber manakins. Frankly, I wish there were more games that went for a more engaging aesthetic.

Yes I quite agree, very generic aesthetic and another run of the mill multiplayer fps it seems.

I'd still play it, who cares if its a rip off? BF Heroes also ripped off TF2 with the style.

Style yes, but animation style is not enough alone to call a game a ripoff, Battlefield Heroes plays very differently then TF2.

H.A.V.E on the other hand has just way to many things in common, the sounds, the weapons, I think I even saw some sort of healing (the glowly cross things floating around one of the anime girls). Hell the guy with the grenade launcher even only has one eye! Not to mention his "grenade's" look exactly like the TF2 pipe bombs.

Hey everyone, let's all make fun of Armored Core for being too similar to Mechwarrior. So what? I want more giant robot games.

Though I'm skeptical about the gameplay. It is Korean, after all. You'll probably have to grind something.

they might have made the trailer to look like TF2 simply to bet publicity it could be the same though i doubt they would do that when the gameplay is released but before then i think its not a rip off

hmm the trailer cinematics on Have online is insanely like the tf2 gameplay, even the exact same classes. altough the game play is the big importance, but still they could have put in some efforts on making new classes and such.
