Does the Escapist Dance?

So in the past few months I have gotten really into Big Band Jazz Swing Dancing. East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Charleston, and all that. It has become a pretty major hobbie of mine and it almost has passed video games for my biggest time consumer. (outside of school)

So I was wondering, seeing how the elusive internet geek is not the prototypical dancing fiend, does anyone on the escapist dance, enjoy dancing of any kind of form, or do most of us just avoid that whole scene altogether?

I'm terribly white, and thus, unable to hold any sort of rhythm whatsoever.

I do pride myself in my guitar playing skills, however.

I cannot dance at all.
In fact, I've been known to mess up the instructive dance songs.
*poses*
Oh yeah. I suck!

I am horrible at those also. I feel very sorry for the people who know all of them because they don't seem like very good music.

No.

No I don't. I cannot dance to save the life of me. I will never ever dance in any social situation.

Except headbanging, but that doesn't really count does it?
I would say that counts, there's not a whole lot else to do at rock concerts than that or jumping around. It feels as a legitmate expression of the music as anything else.

I have a weird kind of footloose style, since I know a little ballet, a little tap, a little salsa and swing, some tango. All non-professional, just sort of picked up. (I had to know rudimentary tap for a play I was once in, for example). I don't dance to any prescribed style, and I don't dance often.

On a slightly related note, its frightening to me that the last time I danced with great fervor-- my middle school dances -- could have been with some of your mothers.

Oh Dear...

I am 6'4'', 235 Lbs, have a shoulder span that is 3.5 time my headwidth (The average person is 2.5) and I have the grace of a constipated rhino. If I were to dance I would end up hurting someone.

I'll dance in a club when I'm legless. When I'm sober? Not usually, though that's because no situations come up where I find myself needing to dance. I did line dancing when I was younger, going back a few years now, just because my mum did sometimes at this social club near us (her cousin was the one who got us into the country and western scene, not a very big social scene here in the UK but still pretty fun :D). Anyway, I stopped line dancing years ago (I was only a kid back then).

I then had to learn two 70's Disco dances for a school play about three years ago. It was a Disco adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream, with the original Shakespeare text (we had an odd drama teacher, to say the least...). Then just a couple of weeks ago I auditioned for a play at university. The audition involved a physical workshop as wll as a monologue, and in this workshop we started with a simple dance to warm up, then elarned some other more complicated dance that had a funny name, apparently big in European clubs circa 2005. It was complicated, but enjoyable, though I didn't get a part and I was a crap dancer...).

I actually want to learn Latin and Ballroom dancing, just for the fun of it and the chance to try something new, but I can't afford lessons (even the cheaper ones advertised by my university's societies). I'd also love to try irish dancing sometime... :)

I don't dance. At parties, I just hope people are too drunk to notice my shuffle/flail hybrid.
