Anyone else have something to share? I basically needed to vent this.
Not UPS, but Parcel Force have managed much better with my family.

They used to (used to) have a freight contract with my Grandad's business, until they managed to destroy almost £80'000 worth of rod blanks (that's a lot of blanks). They also managed to 'lose' a pair of rods with prototype Shimano reels on them.

Needless to say the contract is now split between Citlylink and UPS, who actually seem pretty good.

I have also had Parcel force dump a set of mountain bike forks next to my wheelie bin a black plastic bag. Bear in mind that the forks been sent away (for servicing) in their own box and cost more than my car... yeah, wasn't impressed.

I hate ordering expensive stuff of the net for this very reason, over Christmas time the Royal Mail happily leave stuff outside peopls houses all around my neighbourhood. Burglars do the rounds, literally.

Some packages of mine are left right in front of the door, but I live in a relatively safe neighborhood so it doesn't matter.

On your story what a fucktard! How can someone do that in an area that's probably known for more counts of rape than good community members.
On another note, my town is supposedly haunted.

What if ghosts took your package?

Do you by any chance own a bigass nasty growling dog, that guards your front door against the mentioned molotov cocktail bombings and stabbings? (or just a sign that says you have one)

I'd hang a version of that out if I had a fence.

UPS always rings my doorbell.
And if you say UPS with a long 'u' then it sounds like oops.

Three days ago I sent my 360 to Texas for repair through UPS. Now I'm paranoid. Thank you.
The answer's simple, just stay home, watching the door, without blinking, 24/7 until it shows up again.

I'll get right on that.

I worked security at a UPS and can tell you they are not the brightest people in the world. They would constantly leave packages in trucks that were supposed to be going out empty, forgetting to put packages on trucks, and we caught several who tried to come in high.

The Post Office Express guy (as close to UPS as possible in the UK) delivered a parcel a little while ago, and my Alsation rushed out to the car. Unfortunately, she'd bitten him twice before I got hold of her, and she got put down. This is why you stay OUTSIDE the door marked "Do Not Open- Danger! Alsation".
I'm sorry to hear about your dog; we had a similiar incident where some stupid woman actually went through our yard towards the back, where our old German shepard was kept. The dog was literally chained to a metal spike in the ground and she walked within reach of him. After the dog growled at her for a minute, he bit her left hand. She pressed charges, but luckily we got a good judge who pointed out it was her own fault.

We've never had that problem with our current alsation. He only attacks humans and stray dogs if we give him a verbal command.
Unfortunately she was on her 3rd strike, she'd already gone for two people (but that's a whole other story), so the police had already enforced an order against my dad saying she had to wear a muzzle to go more than 5 feet from our property, and if she was spotted more than 5 feet away without it on, she'd be destroyed. He didn't make it 5 feet, but as the guy needed medical treatment, she had to be put down.

When I get packages delivered they mostly ring the bell and run, which is usually fine as I'm home most of the morning and afternoon.

In German, "ups" means "oops".
UPS is known to drop and damage packages, leave them in front of the door or never even come to your house and just say you weren't reached even if you were there from morning to evening precisely because of them.
They suck big time.
Ups indeed.

In Denmark that would be one reason for you not getting your packages, since the mailmen (me included from time to time) will NOT enter and you will have to get it at the post office. I am not entirely sure whether or not they will call you, because you will not get mail unless you have a postbox on the outside of your fence/gate. I also think that one bite is enough for putting the dog down here, especially if you have no warning.

Maybe he thought he was gonna get stabbed and/or burned so he just threw the package on your doorstep.

Personally, I've never had problems with UPS around here. Our UPS guy always delivers quickly and tries to make sure someone's home to receive the package. If no one's there, he tucks it into one of the various hiding places near my front door and leaves a note.

No warning? Let me reiterate-

We have an outside door, a little area for coats/shoes etc. and then the door to the house. All the other mailmen put the mail inside the first door (through the mailbox), then leave. If something needs signing, they ring the doorbell and wait for someone to walk out, close the inner door, then open the outer one. This guy rang the bell, then let himself in through the outside door, so when the Alsation slips past me, there's not a door in between her and the postie (like there should be)

Ahhh, well that explains a lot. Here we mostly have gardens so the mailbox has to be reachable from the street. Double doors are a rare sight and most postmen would stay completely outside of them. But a sign with a dog at the garden gate will usually (unless the postman knows the dog) mean that mail will not be delivered. It is the owner's job to make sure that the mail can be delivered safely for the postman.
