I knew about the recent history and the reasons for it but found the historical references interesting. My throw away comment about tentacle rape was more to do with its presense on the internet, 4chan etc. I never said the internet invented tentacle rape.Geoffrey42 said:

The technique works only with people though who use the internet often, so anyone who doesn't use the internet much, you have no excuse.
Look the POINT of the research is it demonstrates those who use the internet more have more twitches in their frontal lobe. The point isn't that they're smarter it's that their BRAINS are working out more. The Brain is a muscle, when it exercised it's function improves.
Since I began using the internet, if anything I've got dumber and lazier. But to be fair, id do know more pointless useless information than most people I know!

You're broadening the claim with no evidence to support it. Nothing listed indicates that the internet causes higher levels of activity than other potential activities, just that it induces higher levels of activity in people who are accustomed to it compared to people who aren't.TsunamiWombat said:
