I think they've said as much, yes. Doesn't surprise me, the PC really is the ideal platform for any sort of First Person Game.

Valve has openly stated that they like the 360 and greatly dislike working with the PS3 hardware.

But PC will always be their forte.

I think the question to be asking is, do most other developers hate the PC?
Not really, most developers use the PC to create their games to begin with.

I don't think Steam hates consoles, it's simply a different interface. To be honest I'm sure it's difficult port a game made to run on one thing and make it work the same way. Besides, how often does the PC community get screwed when it comes to games?

Well, here's the thing. Microsoft is making Valve charge users for the updates, or DLC. So instead of frequently release class updates each time, they are realeasing several at once so players don't have to keep buying each one.
I remember hearing about that a while back, and I'm inclined to think it was BS from valve in order to make more money while blaming microsoft. All 360 games get free updates, and lots of games also have free DLC including big titles like bioshock. While im sure MS wants them to charge so they get money its the developers who set the prices. I have a hard time believing that valve is the only company MS is forcing to charge for dlc
Free updates, yes.

Free content packs, no.
Actually, you're wrong. L4D on the 360 is getting the two additional campaigns for free, just like the PC.

And interesting that you say all 360 games get free updates when Valve have not bothered to release any updates TF2 on the 360. All the glitches in the game are still there, sky walking and getting under the maps etc. They haven't even bothered with the subtle class tweaks. Valve can't be fucked fixing the problems with the 360 and PS3 TF2, it isn't a matter of Microsoft stopping them by putting prices on stuff, it's a matter of Valve encouraging users to buy their game twice.
I more meant that "Typical XBox Live policy is...". And I think they have been more focused on getting Left 4 Dead out first, then the long delayed Scout update. Add to that, the PS3 isn't their port. As for 360 glitches, I don't know what Valve are planning.

They've been updating games, but at the end of the day it's more difficult to develop for the PS3, which is why they have been skint on the updates for that console.

The 360 has been getting updates, as seen, I believe the reason being that the 360 is similar in design somewhat to the PC.

Gabe Newell already expressed his disdain for the PS3, and it made sense when he said it. Because of the complexity of the PS3 architecture, like the multi thread system on the PS3 (which is so different from everything else, while it has been said that the 360 multi thread system is similar enough to non multi threaded consoles) it would be like creating the same game again, but not, just the a separate version with the same features, and eating into the R n D budget.

Couple this with the fact that Sony already stated they did this on purpose (which in my eyes is because they are greedy and would like as little multi platform games as possible, and more exclusives) sony fans are paying for Sony's arrogance on this one.

EDIT: Forgot the link, Gabe Newell talking about the PS3's architechture, around 4 mins in.

I don't think so.
L4D on my 360 runs great, plays great, and I love it (And so does my wife!).
And The Orange Box was great on my 360, though admittedly I never played TF2 on it.
well thats why TF2 on the 360...well I feel bad for the people who need to BUY the updates when they get them free on the PC.

I suppose that's true, but I know that Microsoft can, and has, forced people to charge for something when they didn't want to.

That aside, I don't think one bad experience with, or distribution of, one game made by Valve is any indication that they 'hate consoles'. L4D is seeing great success, Orange Box saw great success (Despite TF2), and I'm sure whatever they cook up next will also be well received.

They only hate the PS3.

They're a computer software company who sees the need in today's market to port their stuff over to consoles. Also, there are some stuff they just can't, or have to spend forever trying to, do, like giving customers free stuff, on consoles, which makes this inferior experience of which you speak.

It's probably a bit much to say they hate consoles otherwise they wouldn't port games to them. However, they view them as competition to Steam, and gimp them in a way to favor people getting the Steam version over the console ones. Much of the same way Apple stuff, quicktime, itunes, safari, etc. sucks on windows
I wouldn't say that iTunes, quicktime, or safari aren't that different on Windows than on Mac. I have a PC and a Macbook, so it's not horribly biased.

Also, in keeping with the original topic, I don't think that Valve hates consoles. The only reason the graphics are as different as they are is because the 360 doesn't have the hardware to run it in the same way, which I'm sure even those devoted to consoles would agree with.
