Don't know why '****' has to be there, it just does. But I do find it funny how to Aussies, Americans are 'Yanks' but to Americans, Yanks are only from a certain part of America.

Eh, lots of people would say much the same about England and Britain, though.

Sort of.
In Belgium, us Antwerpians believe that Antwerp is the best city in Belgium. (We even have the saying "The only city's Antwerp, the rest is parking space.") So when we want to roar our regional pride at the rest of the peasants, we say "Antwaarpeuh!" You can say this anywhere and people will back you up with more chanting. It is that powerful.

I suppose ours would be "Ing-ERRRR-land!". Most likely to be heard shouted at dull football matches or by skinheads and morons blaming muslims/immigrants/blacks for all their "problems".

Are you talking about South Africa, by chance? I'm asking because that's the only nation that comes to mind with the word "Boer" associated with it(and pretty much because of the late 19th century wars bearing the name).

Netherlands. A lot of the South African language has it's roots in Dutch because of the colonies the country had there in the past. So I can understand the confusion. Heck, most people think 'German' when they hear Dutch. Though I would barely be able to make heads or tails of the South African language I think. ^^;;
