So, it would seem that Whedon has been done by Fox again, honestly I don't know why he keeps working with them. I'd not heard anything about it, apparently it was announced on wednsday that Fox aren't ordering any more episodes (my understanding is they'll finish the current series).

So escapist, is this something as a whole we care about? Did you watch it? I'm kinda irked by it, I liked dollhouse, it wasn't as awsome as firefly but it was still something I enjoyed watching.

*edit* free source anyone?

I watched 2 episodes, in hope that they'd make a hot girl think like a porn star and go on a rampage.

when I realised that they weren't going down that road I stopped watching it...

So yeah, no one cares about Dollhouse. :p

Cancel a show right as it starts to get good - that's the Fox motto!

Reminds me of that Family Guy bit where they list all the shows Fox cancelled in the last few years.

Does anyone even watch TV anymore? What's the point when you can stream and dl everything. At least that way you don't have to put up with commercials every 5-10 mins.

I didn't see it, but I've been meaning to catch up through Surf The Channel. Looks like it's going to be another Firefly incident - I watch a Joss Whedon show that proves to be good, only a while AFTER it's been cancelled. Then I get drunk and start mouthing off at Fox and travelling to the USA by polar bear (they swim, okay?) and shooting all Fox employees on a drug induced rampage.

I'm not surprised, I didn't watch the show mind you, but it looked good enough for Fox to cancel.

Seriously, why does Fox cancel great shows before they get good, or are good? There have been a lot of shows that they canceled on me, it used to aggravate me so much. If I still watched T.V. regularly I wouldn't care what they showed on Fox... especially if I thought it would be a really good show.

That's right Fox, cancel shows that are genuinely good, and keep squeezing out season after season of the Simpsons. *thumbs up* You're doing a great job!

I used a lot of memes because I think that sometimes helps with sarcasm. Jesus christ another good show gets abandoned. What shoes do fox even screen anymore?

Which is why good shows get cancelled. I was having this discussion with a friend, and I was saying that Fox constantly screws with shows by showing them out of order, and at different times. He said that he doesn't care as he downloads all his TV shows. It took me about half an hour to get him to realise that this sort of thing actually has a bearing on whether they make a show or not.

I watch my TV on TV as it usually has a far better picture quality, and you are actually showing your support to a show. This is less of a problem in the UK as the BBC is advert free, and has cool shows like Doctor Who, Family Guy, and (up until recently) Heroes.

OT: I wasn't that fond of Dollhouse, and I was really surprised when he convinced them to greenlight a second series instead of listening to all his fans, and doing more Firefly. Oh and Summer Glau is in this series (she might have already been in, but I don't watch it)

how about cause it kinda sucked? sorry if you think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread, he's not get over it. there's TONS of way better shows out there that don't take 2 seasons to get good

the other thing is people who say "oh i'll just download it but i love Joss Weddon" it is because of people like you the show gets canceled. this is because they don't count online viewers as viewers of the tv show. so if you want to complain, please complain about how you caused it to be canceled, not withstanding the fact that it wasn't very good

Watched the first season but never got around watching the second. It was alright though, lightyears from Firefly but still good. Whedon was not involved to it at the same extent as Firefly if I'm right, so you can't really expect as much. I'm not really crying over it, but there are a lot of other shows I'd sooner see canceled.

It certainly isn't the best show on TV, but it has (had) far more depth tham most of the shit usually on the air (especially in Australia, I can't imagine our TV being worse). It was definately a slow show and took a while to develop, so it probably turned a lot of people off it for that reason.

I completely agree that people downloading shows like this are the reason they fail, though unfortunately a great many shows I watch aren't aired on Australian TV or if they are, they're aired on pay TV which most people don't bother with (Still don't think we've had breaking bad aired yet, despite it being hugely popular overseas and having had two seasons). No doubt that the Australian veiwing trends don't count for enough to make or break a show anyway.

Noooooooooooooooo! I never watched it, but Eliza Dushku was in it, and she was in Wet. And I liked Wet. So, therefore, I'm sad.

But I'll tell you this, Whedon's best work was "Angel".
