It's funny how people claim clones like this don't progress the industry at all, but the fact that competition between developers saying "I can do better" has led to certain genres becoming better as a result instead of it stagnating. I'm hoping Fortresscraft succeeds to some degree, so Notch will realize he needs to get off his lazy ass and start actually putting out content that isn't just reskinned blocks and taking mods from the community into his updates. Although I might as well not say anything, considering reasoning and logic are missing from the Notch Defense Force.

Cause you know, he's totally on his lazy ass not doing anything /sarcasm, and if you've read half the posts here I think reasoning and Logic are rather high.
I'm not trying to snap at you Terran, but I've seen carbon copies of this post so many times that when I came accross your post I got sick and tired of it.
As for the monopoly thing totally unrelated to the above quote, look at EVERY FUCKING INVENTION IN MODERN HISTORY! Pardon the language, but Electricity was monopolized, radio was monopolized, telephones were monopolized, apple monopolizes just about every phone they come out with.
Monopoly is a good and bad thing. It gives someone the ability to get their project rolling, allows for it to be perfected/cleaned up, and allows one cash in on their -idea- before other companies break them down and take em out of the market. There is a DIFFERENCE between a small-scale getting started copyrights monopoly (the reason for half of our inventions today) and a large-scale business monopoly (such as microsoft back in the days.) A good example of this is the subway. If it wasn't for people stealing the idea, we would have had clean, efficient subways back when they were initially invented way back in, last I checked, the 1800s >.>
Edit: Initially FortressCraft will only be available on XBLIG, however we are looking at PC distribution methods. If we can get distribution sorted for FortessCraft on the PC it will probably be more along the lines of "pay $X and you get all updates ever". Unfortunately Sony doesn't provide indie games support like Microsoft does, so it's incredibly unlikely that FortressCraft will see a PSN release
This statement is a loosing point. While I thought it was a clone, and personally didn't like it, there was nothign in the business aspect to piss me off. By having plans to transfer it to PC they really mean "get it popular on the Xbox and then transfer to PC so we get more of an audience than we would of"
