The new Doom 4 game is due from ID Entertainment. What does the gaming community want from the new horror game?

The chaos that simulated the hellspawn blood orgy's writhing in the deepest abattoirs of hell as in heretic and Final doom. not the cheap scares "horror" game that was doom 3.

Doom is not a horror game, it is a fight your way tooth and nail out of hell while being one bad mother. And to save your pet bunny.

in short more enemy's on screen at once, more intense battles, bigger open ares. OH YEAH and make the chainsaw accessible sooner/more times in the game,

The original dooms did not revolve around claustrophobia like doom 3 did.

Back to basics I say! And no stupid side plots, keep it clean and simple: In Hell, Get out

I want them to cancel it. I just can't escape the feeling that this will be terrible.

I want to be able to see what I'm doing, or at least be able to attach a flashlight to my gun, thank you.

Doom 3's plot is much closer to the original Doom's than it is to Half-Life's. Hell, if anything it was Half-Life that copied Doom's "monsters coming through portals from another world" thing.

Did you miss the parts in the original Doom where they turned the light off on you, or had you going through darkened corridors, etc., in attempts to scare you?

The big difference is that the old games weren't as realistic, so the monster closets and such didn't bother anyone as much, and also that it was less darkened due to the limited tech of the time. And the number of on-screen enemies on the screen at any given time, I suppose, but that started going down way back when they did the original Quake, and is a limit that comes when you want the game to look as good as it possibly could.

I was referring to Heretic and Final, not doom 1.

As stated above, either weapons with built-in flashlights like in Quake 4, or the ability to hold the flashlight and a gun at the same time. For example, you could hold your flashlight and pistol at the same time, but it might take a bit longer to reload with only one hand, or you could hold the flashlight with an SMG and that could make it a bit less accurate. Anything that gives you the ability to use that damn light and a gun at the same time.

Also, if they're planning on pulling a Quake 4 in the sense that the BFG will be replaced, I'll end them. BFG > all.

my bigger problem was the space marine cliche. And not the portals to other worlds thing. I more cared about the scientists...

The greatest thing Doom 3 did was the SOUND. it was just sooo good

I want Hell on Earth. I just want to shoot my way through hordes of demons then go down there and kill some more. I'm sure id Software (not ID Entertainment) learned from fan reactions to Doom 3 and will give us what we want.

Flashlight+gun=win.
That will be the expansion pack knowing game designers.
"You want BOTH?! that will be 50$ please".

In all seriousness, how about some helpful Comrades that don't just say "OH god someone survived!" then get turned into a Zombie.

The trouble is that every other game these days is a generic brown coloured space marines versus aliens shooter. And Doom kind of started the whole thing so doesn't have a lot of room to innovate. So I think they should just cheese it up to the max; massive guns, hundreds of monsters, heavy metal soundtrack. Unapologetic gaming smut, that's what we want. Any kind of concession like a cover system or an attempt at a plausible plot will ruin it.

GET TO THA CHOPPA!

Uhm, I mean, get to the basics.

I hope that DOOM 4 takes us back to the uncomplicated shooting/chainsawing of hordes of undeads and demons.

Just to get spawnedkilled and having myy ass handed to me by Cyberdemon.

Good Times....

Seriously, if you're going to put me in complete darkness, at least let me tape a flashlight to my guns.

yes please! Dual wield BFG's PL0X. AND YOU HAVE CHAINSAWS INSTEAD OF LEGS. If this happens I officially complete my life and play doom 4 forever and ever. and ever. And please dont nerf anything except that really shit weapon. You know the one im talking about.
