Only played like an hour, and I wait until my kids are going to bed before trying docked (what are you playing mommy ? Aaaaah, monsters, I'm afraid !)

So far, the game seem very nice to me. The fonts are a little bit hard to read, but nothing too bad. It's fast, packed with action and blood. So far I love it.

But I tried to read reviews about it, and I'm kind of disappointed that every single review out there so far seems to only compare it to the PS4/Xbox/pic version. I want to know if the game is good on it's own merits not if it hold up against other version graphics, and if the game is complete or if there's something missing. I don't care that it run at 30fps. I mean,if I look at some comment, some people seems to think that their eye will bleed if they dare watch something at 30 fps...

So you tried it so far ? What do you think of it ?

The small console is always going to be compared to the big console, because what people worry about is whether or not the small console is handling all the action of the game as well as the big one. My advice is to not take any of this personally. If you like the game and it seems to be performing well for your Switch, that's all you really need.

I was gonna type something facetious about the Switch being a kiddy console because Nintendo ("Does the gun shoot bunnies? Do they cuddle the monsters to death?") but fuck it, I'm glad to hear it's getting some variety. But I don't think reviewers would cover ports from games that are what, almost two years old?

So, I did play a bit docked, and actually, it?s not that bad as some people say it is. I?ve read a review that said it good on the go but don?t dock it because it?s slow and ugly, but it?s not. But again, I don?t have a PS4 or an Xbox one, and my gaming pc is 8 years old, so i?m not exactly use to play game with very high graphics I guess. But so far the frame rate seems steady even with many enemies on the screen. But I do have encounter the sound bug that many reviewers have noticed, basically sometimes the sound of the game goes mute for no reason. If it?s that common I guess they might patch it later on.

But damn do I suck at this game so far ! It probably my first real shooter on console too (ok beside gears of wars) so I really miss my mouse and my keyboard. Maybe I will pick up a pro controller if it get on sale at Christmas, it might help

i think we have past that. i mean, doom, next week Skyrim, LA noire, Wolfenstein II, darkest dungeon, payday 2, resident evil revelation... that prove that there enough variety for everyone in line...

Switch version looks fine. nowhere close to being the same type of night and day difference between the graphics like what was had between the Wii compared with 360 & PS3, which graphics whores keep falsely claiming the difference to be.

Why not get a PS4 when Black Friday/Cyber Monday rolls around?

I mean, if you can afford it, the system is well worth it.

Since the N64 I've rarely bought non-exclusive games for Nintendo systems.
The other versions tend to run/play better.
-Yes, yes, I know there's games like RE4 and Viewtiful Joe that ran better on the NGC.

I think the only reason the Switch can get away with running Doom 4 at all is that idTech 6 is hella optimized. All the other third party games I'm seeing for it are all last gen.

I mean, if you're not worried about comparisons, then read the old reviews. No Nintendo Switch/Ps4 comparisons there.

I think to even bother posting another article on the same game from a year ago would only be worth the trouble if the article was about something new, and it just looks like DOOM on the Switch is literally just DOOM. On the Switch. It looks objectively less detailed, but if you're not worried about details it's fine, as long as the framerate holds it 30FPS mark. That's really the only thing to talk about with the Switch version. How it compares.

1) That's a zoom-in on a background, which is always going to have fuzzier detail on all systems.

2) There's a heck of a difference once it's in motion...

3) ...as well a difference in price. This game is going for 60 bucks on the Switch, meanwhile on PC/PS4/Xbone it's 20 bucks.

The soon to be released L.A. Noire remaster is going for 10 bucks more on Switch, too (as well as apparently needing an SD card to even run). So you get inferior quality for more money. Unless you're someone who desperately values gaming on the go I don't see how anyone would buy these games over the PC/PS4/Xbone versions.

wanting to play games on the go atuomatically makes you desperate now somehow.

you keep telling youself that if it makes you feel better just because you have a slightly prettier picture on your system. XD

Did I say you're automatically desperate if you want to play on the go? No I didn't. I said that if you desperately value it, as in, only wanting to play handheld and never opting for sitting infront of a TV screen/monitor.

good thing most Nintendo Switch owners generally use both handheld and TV features then isn't it?

Hence why one would need to desperately value the handheld function if they pay for a more expensive and more inferior version of third-party games.
