Meh. Didn't even get a quarter of the way into DA:O with 20 hours on it.
Seems unlikely I'd buy the second one.
Not a fan of the lengthier RPG's then I take it? To each their own; this is great news to me.

Though I am a little curious about the whole "New champion, new locales thing"
I don't know... I mean it's got all the ingredients of a good game but I just didn't get as into it as I did with KoTOR, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, oblivion or even torchlight.
I think losing a save with around 8 hours on, then replaying those 8 hours kinda took a lot away from it.

Seems a pretty short turnaround for a full blown sequel,Nov 09 - Feb 11,does it not?Especially considering they were working on the DLC during that time aswell

Still I have faith in Bioware to deliver a good game.About 10 hrs into the first one currently.Pretty good so far

So Bioware fans get to walk around another bland, washed out world with a severely limited and linear design while fighting the same handfull of enemies time and time again until they run out and reach the set level cap you're designated to reach at the end of the game that you pretty much can't avoid? Or are they completely changing this one? Maybe there'll be TWO dragons this time, get it, two dragons and it's number two?
I'm pretty sure there are 4 or 5 Dragons in Origins and Awakening, and that's not including the Drakes and Dragonlings. Just saying...

I just hope they don't phone in the graphics B-Team for DA2. I mean its not a bad looking game, but compared to Mass Effect 2 or Mass Effect 1 you have to wonder what went wrong.
DA is a much larger, more open game. Personally, I'm more than willing to see graphics sacrificed for the sake of content.

The name "Dragon Age Origins" did kind of insinuate that there was going to be a sequel :p

Hopefully with the 2nd one they take a few more risks. The areas and storyline for the first one were VERY generic.

I think the idea of the game was to be very generic. I mean otherwise they wouldn't have put humans, elves and dwarves in a world with dragons, right?

I'm very interested of how they will continue the story. I mean after Awakening the story seemed pretty much over. And for the title to make any sense the game has to be set within a 100 years of the first one (Dragon age is the age they are living in the game, I think the game told that the age switched every 100 years).

Never played Dragon Age, but I'd really like to... I might pick up DA 2 if its not a direct sequel... Which I don't think it is, becuse I remember Bioware wanting to create a huge new game universe. And the best way to do that would be to make a load of unrealated games in the same universe.

It's a fantasy universe so anything could happen.
Maybe we'll see the world and characters we knew from the first game evolve into something a little more unique/less generic. I'd like to see dragons become a little more prominent too, presumably they'll become more of a focus throughout the series.

This just in... a company attempting to capitalise on a recent success create a sequel! More at 11.
this post in particular. It all seems a bit stupid to be honest, considering it's just one sequel, yet people buy the sequels that are churned out time and time again without complaint.

Personally, I'm looking forward to this. DA1 was a bit generic, yes, but generic does not mean bad.
Because a week after initial release, after experiencing the game and reading others experiences, it seemed pretty obvious that there was either going to be copious amounts of DLC or a sequel.

This ain't rocket science. If a product does well they make more.
Okay, I'll admit, I gathered that much, but still, everyone seems to just be bashing this. Why? Because it's from EA?
Whoop-de-fucking-doo. So long as it's a good day, who cares. Plus, the day 1 DLC plan means that you can see if you enjoy the general flow of DLC, so I don't get why people are bitching about that.

/fanboyrage
Sorry, didn't realise people have been bashing EA for this. I was bashing the OP.
Ah, that's okay. I thought you were having a go at Bioware, and when someone has a go at Bioware with me around... there is blood.

Excellent news, but since everyone one already knew about a sequel before now, more info or a debut trailer would have been nice

Well debut trailer comes out in about a month. They said they created new, improved engine to buff up the visuals. Personally i didn't find DA:O that bad visually, it siuted the gameplay style, and had enough details to be pleasant.

Now Dragon Age 2 in 2011?

I understand that BioWare is capable of herculean effort, but releasing The Old Republic, Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2 in the same year might cause a bit of an overload.

The core writing team is pretty much unchanged with most of their games, and sometimes people need a break from churning out endless works of genius.

Take it one step at a time, Drew Karpyshyn!
Um you do realize that Bioware has three different studios right? And I think they are opening a 4th in Ireland. Also Drew if the main writer for the Mas effect series, while David Gainer is the main writer for the DA series. As far as I know anyway. I'm pretty sure Bioware Austin is doing TOR, and each of the Canada studios is working on DA and ME. So it really isn't much of an overload. Also even if all the writers are the same, they are only working during the beginning on the design process; before most of the work is even really done. Because of that they would have a lot of free time once the game itself goes into production.

I recently learned that EA confirmed Dragon Age 2.
I wonder if it will continue the game with previous characters or if we're going to have to start over again. i'd prefer the former, but by the end of Awakenings my warrior was so powerful that Bioware would have to create enemies / encounters so complicated it might make the game a bit ridiculous.

we shall see ...

Considering you now have to be a human named Hawke, I highly doubt they'll allow you to continue as your previous character.

But you will fight like a Spartan!!
