secuROM in mah dragon age!? lies!
Yeah, the game uses SecuROM for release date activation.

No idea how this affects disc releases. It's supposed to simply delete itself, but being SecuROM it probably just hides in a corner and posts racist comments onto Youtube.
Well thats nice to hear, But im sure it does more then just post racist comments on youtube. It could very well turn people into Darkspawn!

The Escapist's review says you can turn auto-attack on in options.
You don't have to hit any buttons like that on PC do you?
The Escapist review LIED. I think that's basically the point of the thread.

Having read more about it, it looks like people have misidentified Sony DADC as SecuROM since it uses similar elements. Users are reporting that wiping the temp folder doesn't affect the game, so it shouldn't be a problem.

We haven't heard from EA on the story about reports of SecuROM DRM in Dragon Age 2, but BioWare Live Team Technical Producer Derek "CrushBug" French made a couple of posts to our forums that discuss the matter. He says:

"Sorry, but there is some confusion on this. We use Sony Release Control which shares some functionality with other Sony products (SecuROM), but we do not use SecuROM for the DRM. Once the Sony Release Control check is passed, Release Control self-destructs, removing the Release Control wrapper and it is never used again. Game updates will not use Release Control because obviously the release date is passed. Additionally, installing the game and then any future game patch will also remove the Sony Release Control check and it will never run on your computer."

When asked about a running SecuROM process, he said: "There is no running process once it unwraps and self-destructs." In reply to a question about registry entries, he replies: "An inert registry entry that does nothing." Finally, when asked about files remaining on users' hard drives, he explains: "In a temp folder that is never referenced again. This part is sloppy and should be cleaned up, though. We will see about doing that in a patch."

EDIT: Not that I have any expertise or anything, I got all this from the comments section of your link. :D

A lot of people complain that button mashing is a bad thing. I might just be wierd, but I prefer it that way.
Me, too. It comes from endless hours playing hack and slashers.

OT: I don't think that adding a little hack and slash action to Dragon Age 2 was a bad idea. In my opinion, I think they've actually increased the ability for tactical game play by making the classes very distinct in how they play, move, and react to combat situations.

I played a two-handed weapon fighter my first time through and there was no better feeling than coming to your mages' aid by bull-rushing their attackers with Scythe, sometimes turning them into red mist and giblets. The moves are quick and clean, which is something I felt Origins lacked (the constant position shuffling was maddening, especially if you were a rogue).

In summary, I found the combat in Dragon Age 2 completely satisfying, aesthetically, without sacrificing opportunities for tactical play.

Someone told me that in Dragon Age two the default mode of attack requires you to mash the attack button for each attack.

What they meant to say was that there are no options for this, and that you are literally forced to hit A every 3 seconds.

It doesn't seem like too huge a deal, but it basically single-handedly ruined the game for me. Well that + the inability to zoom out or look over the battlefield to plan.

I'm not going to get into the story or characters or my opinion on the game, just a quick PSA for those who have been mislead.
They auto-attack in my game.
My PC version of the game.
My vastly superior PC version of the g---

Sorry.
