Never cared what others said about DAO and DA2 since I loved them. And the reason why I didn't cared abut their opinion was that while they were playing Chronotrigger,Final Fantasy or Zelda and thinking those were good RPGs I was thinking they were pretty shit and was enjoying my time playing Might and Magic and Wizardry series.
Funny you should mention Final Fantasy. Uh... I'm not sure how to break it to you, so I'm just going to leave these here:

Dunno to me Fenris looked like a drow which is strange since I never heard about dark elves in the Dragon age lore.

Wow, two male warrior characters both have short hair. The nerve of Bioware.
Or, you know, two male characters with similar hairstyles, similar facial structure, similar weapon choice, similar clothes, similar build, and similar levels of angstiness. I'm not [http://forums.gametrailers.com/thread/does-fenris-from-da2-seem-a-li/1195060?page=3] the only [http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/dragon-age-2/show_msgs.php?pid=988966&topic_id=m-1-58400425] person who [http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/dragon-age-2/show_msgs.php?pid=988966&topic_id=m-1-58457809] thinks this [http://social.bioware.com/forum/Dragon-Age-II/Dragon-Age-II-General-Discussion-No-Spoilers-allowed/Fenris-and-Merrill-are-both-shots-at-JRPGs-6534506-1.html], btw.

(EDIT: It's not actually a huge sticking point for me. I just think it's hilarious when someone says "I hate JRPGs! That's why I like DA2!" Not that there's anything wrong with JRPGs.)

Haha I just figured out how to get rid of all the "he's basically Cloud from FF" accusations aimed at Fenris. Someone get me two scimitars and a panther, stat!

Sounds good to me. I'll get it at some point. I just played the game again not too long ago, though (and am playing through Origins again now). Next time I'm ready to play Dragon Age II again, I'll get this.

I enjoyed DA:O all the way to the end and through the DLC. I really didn't enjoy DA 2 very much at all. It seemed like an ok game at first, but rapidly got more and more boring. By the third act I totally lost interest in the game, now it sits unfinished in my hard drive and I am too busy playing a crapload of better, cheaper games from the Steam sale.

So to makea long story short, I won't be bothering with any of the DLC for it and I am a wondering if DA 3 will be something I enjoy or don't. Some folks may have enjoyed DA 2, but it wasn't a good game from my perspective.

Oh dear Christ, what was that writers name again? I remember checking out if the writing team had changed, and I noticed she was the new addition to the team.
She was behind the writing of pretty much EVERY scene I hated.

"Giggle-squee" indeed. I'll second your statement. She should get back to writing awful slash-fiction.

As much of a jerk as David Gaider has been to the fanbase, I'll forgive him for all the good he's done in the past. The quests he wrote were still half decent.
I'm not sure I understand, what has Gaider done wrong? I literally know nothing about him except he wrote guys like Alistair, Morrigan and Awakening Anders, which sounds pretty awesome since those are my three favorite characters...with Sten of course.

Although I did enjoy DA2 and don't think that it deserves all the negative criticism it got, it remains a very flawed game in my opinion and a little DLC won't fix that. A well-crafted expansion with a cohesive storyline and a good amount of content might, but not a $10 side quest that will last a couple of hours.

I'll pass.

Well, what still irks me, is that they're tailoring the DLC as a response to DAII's critical reaction. In that case, why not simply give it away for free as a "peace offering" of sorts and a gesture of goodwill towards those who vehemently derided the game. That would seriously help Bioware's recently tarnished reputation.

Also, fire Hamburger Helper, she's little more than a literary hack who is more at home crafting fan-fiction than being a "professional" writer in a multi-billion dollar industry.
They should have given the Prince DLC free to all people that bought the game... I have it because of pre-order, but it's a major character that was ripped out for reason to make more money...
Not to mention the character is annoying and the actual content consisted of a couple extra quests (The recruitment quest does not count because it's basically "Kill These Guys" in places you will visit eventually anyway.) and that was it.

Seriously, at least Shale was an interesting character, with some new game mechanics and came free if you bought the game new.
I agree 100% and feel the evil influence of EA is destroying all of Bioware. Soon they will be gone if this keeps up... I hate Activision, but atleast they let Blizzard have their time on titles...
Activision does whatever they have to do to make money, EA does whatever they have to do because they can. It's quite a difference. Bobby Kotick is an investor's dream really.

So much rage. I guess people can't own up to making a bad purchase and just have to ***** about BioWare every chance they get. If I buy a shit vacuum, I accept my mistake and just avoid that brand later. I don't yell about it on vacuum forums every chance I get.

Voicing opinions is important, but doing it in the right place is even more important. Complaints should be made either directly to the studio, on their forums, or on user review sections of sites like Metacritic. Dredging up the same issues on every news piece is just unnecessary and tends to derail the thread. Unless an article specifically addresses the game's critical reception, we don't need to belabor the point.

Shiny. But it's a Bioware DLC so I'll wait a few days before getting it. See if it's worth cost and more importantly, see if it buggs out my game.

But Merrill makes her Squee! And she's like totally the virginal girl next door, who is like soo crazy but she's like a little sweet kid like a lost kitten who needs to be hugged!

While we're at it, Gaider can get kicked too.
That is not Helper who said that.

This is something that annoys me, people deciding to be arseholes to the people who made DA2 because they didn't like the game. Personal attacks on the creators isn't something wrong with the game, it's an issue on your side.
I'm not saying the only argument you have is ad hominem, but it is all you are using at the moment, and I have encountered too many who use thing else.

I think it's more because they write stuff like this [http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/141/index/6046067/1]. I think it's entirely fine to slam someone for bad writing if their writing is, in fact, bad.

Yet if I'm not the only one making ad-hominem attacks, why am I the one being singled out. And guess what? Subjective opinion is subjective!

But yes, I did mixed up Helper with Cheryl Chee. As others have pointed out. I'm just too lazy to fix it, but I'll gladly explain my mistake any time someone comes along to call me out on it.

Regardless, I stand by what I said. Being an arsehole is entertaining, especially when it riles people up. (not at you of course ;), just people in general.

You can slam their skill as a writer, and you don't do that by attacking the person.
What is wrong with those pieces of writing?

Because you were a perfect example, you were wrong, but if right would simply be engaging in a logical fallacy.
You can't even be bothered to correct yourself. Besides, "they are doing it too" is never an excuse.
And guess what? Subjective opinion is subjective!
What is your point?

Uh, I'm pretty sure people are slamming their skills as writers pretty directly. And to express what is wrong with that writing, I'll let an excerpt speak for itself:

Someone who is paid to write said:
The first pair of open shutters he saw and Fenris dived through. He landed in a kitchen filled with the smell of baking bread, and a human woman screamed as he rolled to his feet. No doubt the sight of an elf in skintight armor, carrying a blade almost as large as himself, wasn?t a welcome sight. He got to his feet and noticed the surprisingly comely woman, dressed in a nightgown that revealed more of her cleavage than she no doubt expected, pressing against the wall.
