Uh, I'm pretty sure people are slamming their skills as writers pretty directly.
"Hamburger Helper" is a comment on writing skill?
You'll also note the guy I quoted wasn't doing so either.

And to express what is wrong with that writing, I'll let an excerpt speak for itself:
It doesn't speak for itself, tell me what is wrong.

Insulting/funny nickname =/= ad hominem. And that paragraph reads like bad fanfic. Seriously, look at it. "He got to his feet and noticed the surprisingly comely woman, dressed in a nightgown that revealed more of her cleavage than she no doubt expected, pressing against the wall." That sound you hear is the sentence structure crying itself to sleep.

That's not how Soviet Heavy saw it, since he admitted he was using ad hominem.
But you're saying there was zero argument at all, and the insult was just for it's own sake?

Ok that last part was better. You can't just keep throwing exerts at me insisting it's bad. If it is bad, demonstrate that it is.

According to Game Informer, the Legacy demo showed a fight against a Guardian enemy that would constantly spawn clones of itself to join the fight in order to distract the player and hamper their progress.
This is just more of the same kind of crap people were complaining about. Continually spawning enemies doesn't make a fight more tactical, it makes it a pain in the butt! Let us see what we're going to have to fight, let us see where they're coming from, and make us have to plan ahead how we're going to deal with them.
I will certainly not be buying this DLC, and I hope Bioware release sales figures after a couple of weeks because I'll be very interested to see whether many people do buy it.

I'm looking forward to getting some more Dragon Age. Since very little is known about Hawke's father besides that he was an apostate mage, I think this is going to be interesting.
I've been looking forward to getting some more Dragon Age for a long time myself. Ever since I finished Origins and Awakenings. Sadly, I still haven't found any more Dragon Age, though I did pick up some crappy action game with a similar logo on the box a few months ago.

Well this honestly makes me wonder if Bioware intends to follow the same pattern from Origins, of releasing DLC, then making an expansion Honestly with all the "reused everyting" complaints about the game, perhaps an expansion at a lower than normal cost would be a good idea. to perhaps win some favor back.

I'll be happy to point out some rookie mistakes the paragraph makes.

The first pair of open shutters he saw This part of the sentence appears to be incomplete. I checked the source, and it's incomplete there too. and Fenris dived through. He landed in a kitchen filled with the smell of baking bread, and a human woman screamed as he rolled to his feet. No doubt the sight of an elf in skintight armor Too much description. You don't want to pile up unnecessary description in an action sequence - it breaks the flow. Why do we need to know the armor is skintight? Also, there's no such thing as skin-tight armor since armor needs to be thick enough to protect you while affording a degree of mobility., carrying a blade almost as large as himself This is especially silly because the story has already established he has a big sword multiple times. You could replace the description of the armor and sword with "armed" or "armed and armored" and it would improve the sentence flow., wasn?t a welcome sight. He got to his feet Our elvish friend already "rolled to his feet" two sentences ago. and noticed He didn't already notice her when she screamed? the surprisingly Surprisingly? comely We need to know this why? She faints like a paragraph later (lol, sexism) and is never heard from again. woman, dressed in a nightgown that revealed more of her cleavage Seriously, wtf? than she no doubt expected How much cleavage was she expecting to reveal, then?, pressing against the wall This entire last half of the sentence could be replaced with "woman in a nightgown pressed against the wall" and nothing of value would be lost.
And that, ladies and mentlegen, is why I'm not surprised the writing in DA2 sucked.

Well, what still irks me, is that they're tailoring the DLC as a response to DAII's critical reaction. In that case, why not simply give it away for free as a "peace offering" of sorts and a gesture of goodwill towards those who vehemently derided the game. That would seriously help Bioware's recently tarnished reputation.

Also, fire Hamburger Helper, she's little more than a literary hack who is more at home crafting fan-fiction than being a "professional" writer in a multi-billion dollar industry.
They should have given the Prince DLC free to all people that bought the game... I have it because of pre-order, but it's a major character that was ripped out for reason to make more money...
I had it too, but I never ended up getting him or even bothering with him. He didn't seem all that interesting from what I saw, sadly.

I still enjoyed the game, however.

Wow, two male warrior characters both have short hair. The nerve of Bioware.
Or, you know, two male characters with similar hairstyles, similar facial structure, similar weapon choice, similar clothes, similar build, and similar levels of angstiness. I'm not [http://forums.gametrailers.com/thread/does-fenris-from-da2-seem-a-li/1195060?page=3] the only [http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/dragon-age-2/show_msgs.php?pid=988966&topic_id=m-1-58400425] person who [http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/dragon-age-2/show_msgs.php?pid=988966&topic_id=m-1-58457809] thinks this [http://social.bioware.com/forum/Dragon-Age-II/Dragon-Age-II-General-Discussion-No-Spoilers-allowed/Fenris-and-Merrill-are-both-shots-at-JRPGs-6534506-1.html], btw.

(EDIT: It's not actually a huge sticking point for me. I just think it's hilarious when someone says "I hate JRPGs! That's why I like DA2!" Not that there's anything wrong with JRPGs.)
Then there's Varric mentioning his "brooding" all the time. Yeah, Fenris just made me think, look a sexy JRPG character in my BioWare game, how do I romance? Then I messed up his questline in Act 2 and never got to romance him so I was stuck with Anders...

So much rage. I guess people can't own up to making a bad purchase and just have to ***** about BioWare every chance they get.
Hey, I'll own up to it. I made a bad purchase. My mistake, won't happen again. Not really interested in retreading the many problems in Dragon Age 2 for the fiftieth time.

What -is- worth mentioning is that with every mention of Dragon Age 2 in a completely positive light by the Escapist, I lose respect for them. The review on this site was terrible, and they're sticking to the idea that it was a triple-A Game of the Year contender, even months later. It makes them look like idiots.

I'm in the minority of people who enjoyed this game, but even I have to admit here that after seeing the DLC for Origins, I'm going to have to pass.

I would say less "the Escapist looks like idiots" and more "the Escapist is not necessarily a go-to site for RPG reviews." I mean, clearly the whole "DA 2 = 5, Witcher 2 = 3.5" thing is silly, but I don't think it reflects on anything but an unusual taste in RPGs. It's generally not a good idea to take reviews by a single site too seriously anyway, because every site has its equivalent rating quirks.

Helper did not say that which you implied she did. That is not a matter of opinion, you are simply wrong.

See that is an argument, shame I had to pull that out of you. For what it is worth I agree with you that those three short stories are poorly made, but my point was "here, look" and "she's fat" are not arguments. I disagree with you on DA2, however that is not worth going in to.

Would it be too much to hope for if it turns out like the Brotherhood of Steel DLC for Fallout 3?

More quests, more hours to burn, more fun.

Just saying.

I doubt that I'm gonna buy it I can barely play through DA2 a second time, which is upsetting because I want to do a different back story in DA:O with a mage warden because that warden is related to the Hawke family. Now EA really needs to change their ways especially with ME3 on the way.

EA DO NOT F***ING F*** UP ME3 OR THE GAMING WORLD WILL SEEK REVENGE!!!!!!

Let me guess, another one of those "$9 for 1 hour of gameplay" expansions that DA1 was known for? I think I'll pass...

I dug DA2 despite its faults (I love Obsidian games, I don't care if a golden game is covered with shit, I am a master shit cleaner. As long as I get my gold.), but I got all the DAO dlc out of loyalty to Bioware , and they absolutely screwed me on that. I should be pretty annoyed by that too, since Origins was rather disappointing overall, but I gave 'em their shot. Having said that, ALL of their DLC's were pretty crappy. Leliana's Song and Darkspawn Chronicles had some novelty value in how different they were, but still not worth the money or the time for what you got.

Unless I hear this is several hours long (3~4 at least), and very good story-wise, or properly balances gameplay quirks like enemy waves and adds at least a few maps for sidequests to cycle through, I'm going to have to give this one a pass.
