I saw a couple of vids on youtube on it and it realeased in the US last week.
To owners of the game, how does the combat feel? I saw it and I started having doubts.
Is the combat good and intuitive like KOTOR, or is it boring?
Please tell me.

If you liked KotOR's combat, you'll like DA:O's as well. They are quite simmilar.

Yeah, similar to the "pause and play" style of KOTOR but I have not been able to find a way to "stack" actions like KOTOR so far. So maybe more micro-managing is involved.

I looked at some reviews and the combat on the PC is much like WoW (powers mapped to a toolbar), while the console versions play out like mass effect (a radial wheel...thing). I can't wait to get it but i've just bought borderlands and i've had assassins creed 2 preordered for a good 3months now and I won't have the time to pour 60hours of gameplay into it.

I think that... No, I know that WoW's combat is totally different from D20 and by the extension of it, KotOR 1 or 2.

It's much harder than KOTOR, but the feel is the same. I actually like that it's harder because it makes you think about how deal with different situations rather than just relying on your Jedi Guardian's Force Jump.

One thing I really like is the injury system. You may recall in KOTOR that if a character loses all their hit points, they simply have to wait till the fight is over then they're good to go again. In Dragon Age, if a character loses all their hit points they do revive afterwards but they've taken on an injury. Injuries are small penalties to constitution, attack damage, and the like. (Don't worry, they're not permanent, you can heal them with certain items) It makes more sense and forces you to be more careful, especially when you're deep in a dungeon.

Looks really great, but what does this game have against headwear? I've been looking at screens of player characters and party members, I dont think I've seen a single helmet or any other headgear on any of them. Most people probably dont care but it's really a standard thing to have in an RPG, especially if it has so much character custumization like this game claims to have. So anyone of you who have the game, correct me if I'm wrong here.

Yeah, there are alot of types of headgear, but what you might be noticing is that the characters take them off whenever there is a talking scene.

It's a great game but I cannot get the combat right. I'm not a seasoned RPG player so that must be it. I always lose I can't get any further in the game still being stuck at the start... sigh

I like it. The only complaint I have is the Giant Spiders in the game. I'm terrified of the way spiders look, so I'm scared to go onward. Dear god, I'm pathetic. Anyways, there's still hope for the toolset though!

Yes I'm glad. She's hot. But when I switched to her character for the first time I was like, "Oh...hell..." Luckily, she hasn't randomly casted that spell in battle yet.

I don't understand the appeal of this brand of combat.
It attempts to portray a visceral and powerful feel but whenever I use it, it feels clunky and monotonous.

It's acceptable in certain genres such as an MMORPG, which require balance, but in a single player open world narrative based game, it makes little sense.

I imagine it's a designing art that I either don't understand or needs to be thrown in the sea of obsolescence.

Theres hats, butn they don't show up on the cutscenes. I got a cool looking Viking Helmet for Alistair.

I'm kind of with you on this, I've always loved Bioware games despite the gameplay, not because of it. Their greatest achievement is usually creating a story that overcomes my annoyances with the combat system and all. That's why I love the Mass Effect series more, but it's really a matter of personal preference. It might be because I never played and was never familiar with D&D and its rules while many early Bioware fans were, but it always kind of annoyed me.

In general, Dragon Age Origins has been pretty good, although quite difficult so far (still tweaking the composition of my squad). One thing that has been really annoying me is the blood splatter on your characters in cut scenes - it just looks so juvenile.
