Dragon Rage Abounds In Live-Action Skyrim Trailer

Plus, it shows what movies based on video games COULD be. The "Remember Reach" trailer is better than any video game movie I've seen. I think movie makers wanting to bring a franchise to the big screen need to learn lessons from these shorts.

You've gotta understand with these things, it's a VERY different thing to produce a 3 minute cinematic to producing a 90+ minute movie. The quality is completely incomparable, it's basically comparing an entire movie to a single scene.

Sure, the Halo 3 diorama ad [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjhSp7xGsMc] was haunting and effective, and a brilliant swerve for gamers more accustomed to footage of actual gameplay, but at what point did publishers decide that live-action was the best way to advertise a product that is the antithesis of real-world footage?

No hypotheticals there. I'd actually like you to think about that, and throw out your best ideas as to why this advertising shift has occurred.

What advertising shift? You're talking about it like every single publisher does nothing but live action adverts. Having not seen the Halo ad you're talking about, this is actually the first live action trailer that I've seen as far as I can remember. To be fair, I might be forgetting one or two, but the ratio is still absurdly in favour of normal (CGI/game engine) trailers.

Reminds me how much I hate that ridiculous looking helmet they insist on using for the character in all the demos, and now this. I don't care if it's nord themed, it looks stupid, quit it.

I really dont know what caused this advertising shift but I would love to slap the shit out of the guy who thought of it. I have yet to see a half decent live action trailer for a game and that includes this one. I want to see what the actual game is like when I watch a trailer not some live action bullshit that tells me nothing at all.

anyway i didnt think the trailer was that bad at all... it showed what needed to be shown, theres dragons, and you can be a big hulking warrior.

Nice trailer. I like the way the dragon looks, always thought the Wyvern style of dragon looked more agile and predatory. I also love the sound it makes as it roars. Oh yes, Halo Aniversary can wait, there will be much fun had in Skyrim.
