That does not prove that their song are sped up. Try again.

okay, I'll admit they are a bit repetitive...but when you have a guitarist like that who cares?
Because Li isn't a good freakin guitarist, he's just fast.

A good guitarist can write 10 songs and have them all sound different.
woah, look i'm not saying i'm their biggest fan or anything but if you've ever tried to play that fast...and I have...you'd know it takes talent! and I did admit they were a bit repetitive or did you miss that?
What he is trying to say, rather bluntly, is that good musicians use their technique as a tool to express themselves, and to contribute to the music overall. Technique is a means to the end of good music, not an end unto itself.

They're alright once in awhile, but it gets old pretty fast. They just aren't that interesting. It feels like their sole mission is to play as fast as possible and to have the fastest guitar solos possible, but there's no soul there. Not every song has to have a particular meaning or substance, but there just isn't much to them. Fast doesn't equal good.

have you ever listened to firewind? do your research there are planty of bands that sound like dragonforce and do it much MUCH better, and yes they have the odd song that sounds differant from the rest but appart from that very VERY small minority they are all the same. Seriously the even addmitted that in the new(ist) album they tried to change it a bit (and failed) because in the past few albums ALL of their songs were in the key of E and that the singer couldn't acctually hit some of the notes. Now that's the acctual band addmiitting that. Also listen to the drum beat in most of sonic firestorm and the entirety of inhuman rampage and ultra breakdown (or whatever it was called)... it is exactly EXACTLY!!!!! the fucking same throughout the 2 albums.

Do some research, I'm not saying you shouldn't like them, but seriously stop living in denial about the repetitivness of them.

what you mean them not being able to play their own songs means that it carn't of been sped up. Try watching Youtube footage of them live they can play fast but they carnt ever play to the same tune as when its been done in the studio.

I'm convinced he doesn't know how to play the guitar. Every time he plays a song, it seems to change a lot.
First define "he". Same Toteman is a classically trained guitarist, Herman Li has played for over twenty years, and Fred Leclercq can play bass and lead guitar as well as sing.

Speed =/= Talent

He can play fast but can't even play his own song live (see my earlier post for a video as evidence)

Compare Li to Steve Vai Hell, that's not even a comparison, it's like comparing a muddy twig to Jupiter.

Dragonforce isn't really my style.
A friend once recommended this band to me and claimed they were awesome, but I'm more of a Scorpions/Iron Maiden kind of guy.
People playing really fast for no reason and/or singing terribly (IMO) give me the impression that they don't respect the art of writing good music and just want to make money of teenagers that think they're "awesome".

Easily one of the most misunderstood bands ever. People generally right them off for always sounding the same in all they're songs or for their lyrics. But it seems to me no one pays any attention to their greatest qualities.

I personally enjoy DragonForce because they there are many layers of melody, harmony, and rhythm parts in their songs. Second in today's music industry when writing new material 90% of bands copy and paste what's popular. DragonForce on the other hand marches to the beat of their own drum, there's no other band like them.

And don't even try the "All their songs sound the same" argument here. If that's what you think listen to Heartbreak Armageddon, then My Spirit Will Go On, then Dawn Over a New World.

Also try to keep the hate to a minimum. I'm not trying to blast you for not liking them but simply being the one to step forward and say I like DragonForce.
HA!!!

Your Studioforce against my Rhapsody, lets see how they fare then.

Take away Herman Li's effect pedals, and he's not worth a mummer's fart. Playing fast doesn't make you a guitar master.
Yes it does! It just doesn't make you a musician :D

I'm sorry, but how does that prove he knows how to play the instrument?

Also this statistic is highly exaggerated.

In my book, Dragonforce is a watered-down, sped-up version of Iron Maiden, as they also use the same chord progressions (albeit slight variations on the classic 7 - 5 - 3 - 5 - 7 which gives Maiden and the force that epic feel, as that riff is very powerful).

The only difference being is that Maiden, in their old age, continually outperform Dragonforce on stage, and have a better catalog of songs with lyrics that aren't all about "Power" and "Fire" and "Destiny". That shit's for Tenacious D.

Also they never had a shitty vocalist. so + 4 for Iron Maiden.

Wow I can truly see your passion. But I can say that I have no idea where all the DragonForce hatred comes from, for one thing, they have a very unique sound and even though powermetal is a popular style of music they are the most mainstream and actually introduced me to powermetal (oh and their songs would make a great soundtrack for every RPG ever). But as far as I can people always give the same reasons for hating them, 1. they suck live, untrue from what I've noticed everyone whose said that never saw them live and are just going off a crappy cell phone video from youtube. and 2.they just play pokemon music speed up, I will admit that the music of the pokemon games is pretty fun to listen to and anyone who hates it clearly is just insecure about having an inner child (I'm almost 18 and I still like the old pokemon games as well as Katamari Damacy but also love Bioshock and No More Heroes) so in closing my "EPIC 14 LINE" rant I'm sure that the same people who hate dragonforce also hate nickleback for the one simple reason, and that reason is this, "THEY HAVE TALENT AND YOU DO NOT" don't be mad and say they suck just because you can't write a song or play a guitar, once you write a song that makes it to the radio you can hate whoever you want.

Lol sorry, I haven't really had anything to comment on today, and I really don't like Dragonforce or all the hype that follows them. I may have, erm, overreacted a bit.

I like them, I dont understand why people are saying "Waaah, they make albums that are better from the CD than live"... yeah, thats their job(which will you listen to more, the album or them live?) and apparently they have stopped drinking so much and really got their game face on recently.

I only know of one band that sound better live and that is Metallica because they are god damned GODS(What does this even mean?) of music.
