They copy paste their OWN music. No, they don't sound the same, but they are very, you know, "SIMILAR" at least in the same progression, same harmonies, similar intros, etc, etc, etc.
And it seems you have never listened to any other power metal band, in which case I recommend for you Rhapsody and Nightwish just to get you started.

Dragonforce was never a big hit with me. I listened to some of their stuff for a while, but I always preferred other metal. Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Blind Guardian to name a few.
I agree that after a while a lot of their music gets repetitive. Its sad that people only know of Through the Fire and Flames because of Guitar hero though.

I like them, but Herman and Sam are in over their heads, they do these solos in the studio, but are unable to do them perfectly live. But I don't go their concerts. What I like are the solos, and especially the singing.
There is no band like them because they're the only one that can't play their songs at concerts. They speed up most, if not all, of their songs. Dream Theater is way better, at least they can play their music. Avenged Sevenfold has a song called "Burn it Down" that sounds like DF but they probably can play it. You can be a decent band unless you can at least play your music.

Ultra Beatdown is one of my favorite albums of any band (A Flame For Freedom has finally grown on me), each of the others has songs I really enjoy, I'm very into power metal, I like over the top lyrics about dragons, determination in the face of apocalyptic disaster, hope on the horizon, etc., I give less than a damn if they're music isn't technically the best (how the hell can I tell?) since I think it still sounds good, I don't fucking care if their songs are "sped up in studio..."
However, that's all I'm going to say, because the last time I expounded on all that in a thread like this, I had to defend myself for three pages. I'm not especially interested in repeating that experience.

I think they're a decent band, and Through the Fire and Flames is a pretty good song, but their songs do sound a lot like each other and they suck live.

However, I don't keep my ear to the ground for any new releases off anyone on any media platform, i.e. Cinema, TV, Video Games and Music, so if there is something released after wards, I've no idea what.

I've come to the conclusion that their songs are all about a D&D campaign... but that's just me. You know what's really fun? Raising the pitch on the songs about 150%, but leaving the speed alone. Sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks on an epic quest. I nearly peed my pants.
Ok music, not much real talent. A lot of smoke and mirrors guitarwork. There are much better power metal bands.
I only like Soldiers of the Wasteland, Fury of the Storm, Valley of the Damned, Fields of Despair, and Black Fire. They're other stuff is okay though.
Maybe they aren't asking you to take them seriously. Maybe its meant to be interpreted in a similar manner to Heavy Metal [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_Metal_(magazine)]. I think the cover looks awesome. Its also done by one of the most respected concept artists in the world. One of the co-founders of Conceptart.org [http://conceptart.org/] and subsequently Massive Black Inc., the freelance concept art company. I think its probably more of a tongue in cheek thing. You can't think they're actually taking themselves seriously. I mean they called their album Ultra Beatdown (sounds like what Ultrajoe would do to a troll), I don't think they're doing it straight-faced.NoMoreSanity said:

Yeah, while it may be true that not all of their songs sound the same, if 90% of them do, then it is a problem. You could throw three songs at me and say "See?" but I've heard the other ones, which all do sound the same.
Also, I keep reading in this thread that they are a terrible performance band, and the music is sped up, to which the response is "That's what they were like then! NOW they are good!"
Great bands don't need excuses made for them. Plain and simple.
