Nah it's completely normal and happens to everyone, you shouldn't be worried. Although when you think about it it's kinda weird, it happens when your body actually thinks you have died and it tries to wake you up again.

well, I did that and my nose hurt afterwards, it's possible I was sleep walking as I've done that a fair bit in my life, to hilariously embarrassing effect.

It's indeed not weird, and quite annoying as it wakes me up sometimes.

What's not annoying though, is the free-fall feeling while dreaming. That's just absolutely brilliant, makes for some fantastic dreams, like you're flying.

I have got that a few times, but for me it's sinking to the bottom of a lake or something, and when I wake up I always feel like I've nearly drowned.

I had a friend who dreamt that he kicked something, he awoke to the fact that he had been kickinng the radiator. Ouch

I dreamt about running sometimes and in that dream I'm usually being chased by something/someone however after a few steps my legs become extreamely tired and I can't continue running. I later realised that I had been running in my bed so when I got tired I must have reached the wall or something.

I get them occasionally, but its really rare.

Also, this happens rarely (like 3-4 times a year, often less)...I go to sleep, and suddenly stop breathing and wake up gasping for breath.

My mom got that too, not sure if she still does.

It happens rarely, so I doubt a sleep specialist would help...they would want to monitor my sleep, and since it doesn't happen often, I don't think they would get far in their tests.

Phew, thought I was the only one there for a while. i asked my friends and they game the "wtf" look so I decided to hop on to my favorite internet site and ask around. Thank you good doctor!.
I am not a doctor!. Yet....

You're still welcome though!.
Doctor Clarkson-Enthralling-Head?

I'm sorry, I haven't been able to look away in days. Please send help.

You beat me to that on the explanation. I am fully qualified to say doctor things; after all I've seen House and Scrubs, which are testaments to exactly what real hospitals are like.

I woke up with my entire room rearranged, and with an amp in my bed.
Stop it with the bass already!

I've already seen five posts today by you, and all of them mentioned your damn bass.

OT: Yes, I've experienced it.

Also, I also had a bout of exploding head syndrome [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head_syndrome] earlier this morning.

Yeah that happens to me too sometimes. It's normal. What I find odd is that when I am just before sleep I get what I think is a hypnagogic hallucination. For several seconds it's like I can see through my eyelids and everything is extremely vivid and colourful. I've also experienced sleep paralysis, which wasn't the most pleasant.

It was lupus once!

OT: I've done it a few times. Sometimes without the falling sensation

Happens all the time, every night for me. Really used to annoy my ex-gf, which was hilarious... But yeah, I have very vivid dreams anyway, so it doesn't really bother me.
My wife did it once while she was close to me, scared the bejeezus out of me.

I haven't had one in a while, put they say that is a good thing for your body. It doesn't annoy me because I usually have a better sleep after that.
