Drinking for one

Yes, yes I do drink alone. Rather often too. But I also drink out with my friends but yeah. I can only play on WoW when I'm drunk otherwise I find it too annoying.

I dont mind a Whiksey+Coke now and then on my own, but If I go out I like to have one or two drinks just to relax. I feel like I have an old man's mind sometimes... Next thing I know I'll start smoking the pipe...

To me, having to drink to be social sounds like a real problem. Especially if you are frequently getting hammered and saying things that are stupid or harmful then getting into fights.

I don't see a problem in drinking alone if you drink moderately. It's no sadder than eating alone or drinking a cup of tea alone. Whether you think that is depressing depends on how introverted you are or how conditioned you are to think that introversion is bad, I guess.

Yeah I drink on my own quite a bit. I also drink out. Sometimes I drink at home with friends quietly. I remember once thinking that drinking alone was quite sad. Then one day I was bored at home and decided to get drunk. Which was fun. I'm starting to actually get hangovers now so I'm a bit more wary if there's something I have to do the next day.

I used to drink alone, to keep the suicidal thoughts away. Now that I don't suffer from them as much, I never drink alone, unless I'm heading to a party afterwards, and I feel like a beer with my dinner before I go. but 1 or 2 beers with food doesn't really count, now does it?

Drinking for me is a great time to have fun with friends, drinking alone to me just seems quite pathetic (No offence intended) as there's so much more that you can do with your time..

I don't drink at home, only really when I'm out with friends. But when I'm out with friends, it's a social thing, we don't aim to get smashed, just a little buzzed/tipsy, and there are plenty of people around who aren't drinking. Me and my mates have it good the way it is I reckon.

I never drink alone. Its less fun, and often a sign of alcoholism. I don't like nightclubs though. Pubs are fun.

I drink on my own all the time, I don't get drunk on my own though. Drink of choice is whiskey.

Sure, I'll kick back with a few beers watching the evening movie or when doing a spot of late-night gaming. Nothing wrong with it, in my opinion - it's a good way to unwind after a long day.

I couldn't agree more. It's also a nice way to just calm down and relax if I got a lot on my mind.

What's the point of drinking if you aren't going to get drunk?

I mainly drink just to relax. I only get really drunk on a few occasions.

In the summer i sometimes indulge ni a few beers by myself and the occasional whiskey when i feel like it the rest of the year.
I go through a bottle of whiskey in about 2 months, so you could hardly call me a drinker.
I'm more of a drinker on social happenings though and i can hardly remember when the last time was when i was shitfaced.

I'm drinking a gin and tonic with a slice of lemon right now as I play Dead Space. It's pretty good, I do it often - although I'm a little ashamed of it - not enough though to not tell anyone about it when they ask. I usually pass it off as a joke though.


OT: awesome. Not to excess, and I love going out to clubs and bars etc, even just with one friend at my house.

If I ever drink alone it's never more than a pint. And it's always beer because I'll be having it with a meal and it won't be something extravagant so I wouldn't have wine. Also it'd be a waste to open a whole bottle of wine for one person.

At the moment I've been thinking about a certain thing. This certain thing is the consumption of alcohol by yourself. When I look at my friends, most of them think that a night out at a nightclub is the best thing someone can do. I personally don't see the appeal so I usually drink by myself, probably more than I should. So my question is, do you, the people of The Escapists usually drink alone?

I do it all the time mate. But i do like to go out and drink as well.
