I recently took a cooking course in France and with every meal there was a selection of wine. As french beers are all horrible I got really into drinking wine and really enjoy the selection of wines to go with meals. But just now I told my friend on facebook not to go with a Beaujolais with his duck meal but to pick a Merlot of some sort instead. It was as I typed it that I realised I was a twat. Fortunately I don't care because of the world of delights I have opened myself up to by starting drinking wine. So basically hands up if you have an unhealthy obsession with wine... or tell us all about your unhealthy obsession with other types of alcohol. Or tell me I'm weird and a twat, whatever.

I don't have an unhealthy obsession with it... but I am partial to a good glass of Port.

Especially from Porto ;D
Snazzy. I've never really got into it but I can understand why people like it. I suppose it's just a bit... much (hooray for my inability to articulate!), especially if I aim to get pissed, which is all the time.

Generally Whiskey id like to have a Malt but due to costing arm Il stick to blends, like Bells and White & Mckays.

Also Vodka, Caribean Rum, Ale and Port/Fortified wine I have a taste for.

No i dont have a problem, unless not enough counts ?

Fuck me! People drink something other than Pinot Noir with duck? What has the world come to?

I was on a cruise in the summer and they had wine tastings every other night, I learned a lot.

I found I really enjoy a glass of Chianti now.

Personally, I don't like wine at all. The only drink I really really enjoy is Jäger-Bombs, a shot of Jäger washed down with a redbull chaser for those of you that don't know. A full night of Jäger-Bombs arounda bonfire with a group of your closest friends, that's how people should drink in my opinion.

Certainly some drinks go better with some meals than others; I wouldn't have a heavy ale with a curry, for example. Lager really works with that. At the same time, I'd pair a good cabernet sauvignon or a brown ale with a cottage pie.

On the other hand, if you don't mess it up too badly, (dessert wine with savouries, for example), you'll be fine.

I'm trying to become more educated as far as it goes, just so I don't unexpectedly get a bottle of awful frog grog when I'm looking for something nice to top off the stomach after a heavy night of ale. Some lasses are impressed by it, too.
