My practical test was insanely easy, I got 97% and lost marks for the sake of them not wanting to give out a perfect score (Indicated too early and didn't give way to a car 200m away when making a right hand turn).
The written test in Victoria was even easier, and not really written. Just a computer simulation, you click the mouse when you should stop...silly.

Ireland here; the only country where you can fail your test and legally drive home, unsupervised. Ah the "Provisional licence" system. Seems to be that Irish laws which make any bloody sense are nothing but pipedreams.

I take a written driving test tomorrow, coincidentally, though it's only to be eligible for a student permit. It's multiple choice so it shouldn't be too difficult.

To go very slightly off topic, I hear that the South Africa driving test involves driving like you're being chased by armed militants, and that if you let your MT car drift back an inch at stoplights, or if you fail to look in your mirrors every seven seconds, you fail.

USA here and the driving test was pretty easy. I pretty much aced it. I don't think that they like to give perfects. I was marked down for "almost" touching the median line and and for being a couple inches closer to the front car than the back car while parallel parking.
Oh I meant the written test, but I suppose my post was a little misleading. I fixed it so it's more clear.
Well the written test was ridiculously easy as well. Especially if you spend 10 minutes to read the book that they give you. I believe that I got every question right.

You take the wriiten test first in queenland, AUS. I failed the test twice, then passed, than a month and a half later crashed my car. It was written off, no one was hurt, and now i have a scooter (moped).

UK here, aced the theory, but never passed the practical even after 3 attempts. First one I'm sure is beacuse I'm male, had a female instructor, was really rude to me the whole time, and in the end failed me for 'being too close the other traffic when stationary'. Failed the next one on a string of minor errors, then on the third a guy with his lights off (in a storm) jumped a red light at a junction and almost plowed into me, so I got failed for that.

I thought fuck it and went down the 2 wheel route, passed CBT within 2 hours and now I've got a moped, it's all I need.

UK test equals 40 odd questions about fairly common sense stuff thats multiple choice anyway, then there is the hazard perception, perfect for gamers useless for real life drivers. You watch a vid on a pc and click when you think you see the one potential hazard 'occur' in each video. At least one click has 2 and you get points for your reaction time. However if the test thinks you are cheating (i.e. clicking constantly) then you fail.

I wasn't allowed to take my practical test WITHOUT a pass certificate from my theory, so it's weird that you can do it the other way around (unless you don't live in england in which case it isn't the least bit odd)

Over here we have a 40 multiple choice question written test. I didn't take it yet, nor my practical exam (had just about six lessons).

Anyway you need to have 35 of them correct or you'll fail. Not too hard I guess, my brother passed in one try.

Also: People who learn to drive automatic do not learn how to drive. :p

I am about to get my driver's license. All I have left to take is the written test as I have already passed my driving test. I was wondering how difficult the test was for all of you.

So what I want you to tell me is where you are from and how hard your location's written license test was.
Zimbabwe, Africa. Corruption is the name of the game here, because its pretty hard to get it there. The majority of the people who have their licenses here have bought it. Some paid cash, others offered combos of cash and livestock (usually cattle). I wanted to get mine legitimately, so it took me 3 times for the theory, and 2 for the prac.

I'm from Colorado and I actually recently had to take that damn test again cause of a screw up in the DMV's records....their records said I hadn't paid off a speeding ticket on time, it's a long story so I won't get into it....Anyway, the written test is fairly easy here. It's just a few common sense things about staying safe on the road and knowing what colors/shapes of signs mean.

Indeed. Automatics are for old people and sloths. Real drivers use manual transmissions.
I would say I agree but I currently drive an automatic because of the fact that I'm a college student with no money and I've only got what my parents gave me when I started driving in high school.

I'm in Virginia, U.S.A. Let me think back that far...

*clears cobwebs from memory*

I can't speak for any other states, but the test here was pretty easy; a lot of common sense. Mine was multiple choice on a computer. The only question I missed had to do with what the speed limit is in such-and-such type of zone (commercial, industrial, etc...) if not otherwise posted.

If you want any tips I am a partially qualified driving instructor in that I can teach the theory and the hazard perception test segments!

You must have done it a few years back then because I'm from the UK and my theory (written) test was out of 50, pass mark was 45.
Nope, I took mine last easter. Passed my practical may 24th.

I come from Jersey, so 90% of the motorway questions are irrelevant, and so removed.

Denmark. I found it easy. Some don't. You hear of people who have to take the test numoerous times. It's just one of those things that depends on what kind of skills you have. You see, ours is almost purely situational. You see a picture of a situation from the driver's position, and it's up to you to spot the various things that makes for the correct answer(usually there's 4 answers to select between). It's not always a question of whether you can remember the rules, but how good you are at identifying things in a certain scenario.

I took the CT one before all these laws came into play (16 Q test turned into 25, 10 mandatory driving hours, mandatory alcohol class, in order to be eligible to take the test within 4 months)

But the questions were easy as hell (what does it mean when there is a arrow pointing left with a dash through it?) And my driving part was even easier, i was on the road for 5 minutes, drove in a circle and parked.
