I was rushed by my parents to get my full license before I came to university. I'll have you know I wasn't so much sh*tting bricks at the end of the first lesson but I DO hate driving and here's the reason why. All throughout driving I was deemed "The Top Dog", constantly having my teacher go, WOW you're so good at this and on some occasions he even brought along other students just to show what they needed to do to get better. Then the test day came and I remember being so scared but decided "eff it, you've done excellent so far so this can't be so bad", then when I stoppped at a red traffic light (as you're meant to) a lorry, and I'm not making this up, ploughed into the back of me and really dented the back of my teacher's car, all within 5 mins of the test. As soon as I got out the driver of said lorry (who looked like he ate concrete and shat bullets) claimed I was in the wrong because there was no indication that I was going to stop...BULLCRAP!!! DID HE EVER READ WHAT YOU'RE MEANT TO DO AT A RED LIGHT!?!
Anyway the test was deemed void and I got a free re-test, which I failed and then took a third time where I passed (go me), but that's besides the point. I am so scarred now just because of not me driving, but everyone else on the roads. If people crash into you on a red light which I gave plenty of warning that I was stopping (ya know, slowing down incrementally), then who knows what arse-holes are out there.
Point is, driving is scary, but only because everyone else is a dick. If no-one else drove while I was driving, I'd be a-ok with it...in fact I'd go so far to say I'd enjoy it!
