Earlier today, around 4, my phone line had a hiccup and now I can not use any land line or internet services.

I've been searching for a cause and the modem says that there is an issue with the dsl.

I tried unplugging it a couple times, didn't work, so I called up AT&T to find out the issue.

They were about as helpful as, well, nothing. They only offered us packages instead of actually fixing the problem. After that, I asked if there was any distortion of service in our area. They said "no", so I hung up. After that dissapointing call, I walk to my neighbor's to see if they had any issues like me. Turns out, their connections were screwed over as well.

Of course, there is also contruction down the street, and the workers may have fucked up the service in the process of building a new road, but that's just a guess.

So, I come to you guys to ask for help, or to share your terrible customer services exchanges.

I need to find out if there is a fast way to fix me phone line. Can you guys help?

I honestly didn't know people still used DSL.

We had problems with our cable a few months ago, pixelation on the TV and the internet would intermittently just cut out. Turns out that because our house is so far from the street, our line was losing signal due to distance. Getting any sort of cable work done is pretty annoying, having to schedule a 4-5 hour block of time to be at the house is always meh. The cable guy was helpful and pretty qt to boot.

I'm afraid my thread has been lost in the ether...

Well, thanks for the assistance, overpuce and dags.

I suppose I just have to wait to see if it will be restored.

As mentioned before, if your regular telephone service is out, your DSL will also not work, and nothing the DSL guys can do will change that. Your phone line needs to actually work first. You need to call AT&T and speak not to the internet/DSL tech support, but to the phone (analog) guys.

If I had to guess, I'd say the construction crew cut a line. Sadly, there's nothing that can be done until said line is repaired.
