I probably play wRPG's the most, with RTS/strategy coming in a close second. I play shooters less and less now, mainly because the recent ones have essentially become MMO's and I'm not a multiplayer person. Besides, they tend to have weak narratives, which is a turnoff. I've never played a JRPG, they somehow seem too over-the-top for me.

I'm a Jrpg fan ( i also like Wrpgs but to a lesser extent) , and i don't play 3rd person shooters . I have played Resident evil 4 and 5 and mass effect 2 , but it's the genre that i play the lest.

The genre that i don't play at all , is RTS . Because i suck at them so hard , and they take so long to do . Although i will Play SJRPGs , like disgaea , Final fantasy tactics , Growlansers , and agrest war .

That's bullshit; people have their own tastes and play as they will. While you might be able to guess that they might not like a certain game because most games they play are diametrically opposed in style. However; they might love it, despite, or perhaps because, of the differences to what they usually play. Basically, people will play what people will play. That said, only fools play pay to play games. >_>

The segregation holds true in general. But you should apply that generalization loosly. It's a trends thing and you can extrapolate a lot of just by looking at game's demographics but it's just not an absolute.

example:I like shooters, just not the popular ones.
I consider myself a well-rounded gamer, i play a bit of almost everything: RPG, FPS, RTS, puzzle, etc. So I wont hold up when comparing to the rest.

I swear I'm one of the only people on this forum that actively plays fighting games. As staggeringly complex as they are (for the most part), I love going in to the lab and figuring out mix-ups, elaborate combos, character quirks and all that. Also, I love the competition involved; it's so much more exciting to watch a fighting game than an FPS or an RTS to me. Fighting game tournaments a go-go, baby! :D

Speaking of RTS', that has to be my least favorite genre of games. Every one I've tried to play has almost put me to sleep, and I make no exaggeration when I say that. They're right up with turn-based games, regardless of the region they come from. I'm more an "in-your-face" kind a of person and anything involved taking turns or pre-planning strategies moves too slow for me to stay awake throughout (which is the one gripe I had about DA:O).

Huh, interesting. My favorite games all seem to be WRPG's, shooters and RTS. I also love whatever you would call Assassin's Creed (open-world action stealth....thing? Action-Adventure just comes off as lazy.)

Least favorite? Well, I never really play Sports or Racing games, but that's more because they just don't interest me. Same thing with Fighting games, I suppose. Also, when I was younger, Like five or so years ago, I used to love JRPG's and hack and slash games like Dynasty Warriors. Now, I literally get no enjoyment out of either genre. Not sure what happened, just kinda died for me.

No idea if I fall into any generalization. Probably, but meh.

I love WRPGs, being an avid player of Oblivion, Mass Effect/2, Fallout, you name it. And I do dislike JRPGs. I give them a shot, but they always disappoint.I also do like shooters that make an effort to give you choices, with Crysis 2 being my primary FPS, Reach being my secondary.
Though my favourite genre would be space sim, though they've taken a steep decline, and So: Exodus doesn't look much good, no power management...

My favorite genre used to be JRPG's but that has stagnated and I only like WRPG's from Bioware and Bethesda so I would say action/adventure games like Batman: Arkham Asylum, God of War, the Metrioidvania's, and Resident Evil 4.

My least favorite is sports games because I play games to escape from reality and if I wanted to play football I'd just go outside and do it for real. Plus they arnt even full releases but merely roster updates each year.

Man i like all kinds of games. I really like western RPG's. I like sandbox games. I love a good beat em up and I also like shooters 1st and 3rd person. I love platformers like Mario. About the only games that I don't really like are JRPG's and RTS's. Not that they are inherently bad, I just can't really get into them.
