Nobody would dare speak such words to me haha. I listen to pretty much everything out there. I have dabbled in uhh... pirate metal. But I have one friend who will only listen to metal. He deems everything else as simple and boring. I have told him that he needs to expand his horizon a bit but he does not listen.

Since most people don't know half of the bands I listen too, I'm not usually the type of person people say that too.

A couple of kids from my class once lectured me for loving music from the 60's and not caring to catch up with today's pop hits. I ignored them.
Do the same thing I do, tell them "I will when music of today stops being shitty".
Good advice.
Though one has to wonder how long it will take for music of today to cease being shitty.

Not really. Most of my friends are as specific in their tastes as I am with metal. The only one I can think of with a really wide ranging musical taste is a metalhead first and foremost. At least this goes for the ones that are reasonably up front with musical preferences. Most don't really talk about it, as we're generally friends for a wholly unrelated reason. I do make an effort to branch out within my little hard rock/metal sphere (Generally around 5-8 on Moh's Scale of Rock and Metal Hardness but with a few outliers on both ends) and in so doing can often find something that appeals to them. For instance two of my Korean friends, one primarily a fan of pop/hip-hop from the lower ranks among my college Taekwondo team, the other an oddball hipster from my Korean language class both responded positively to my discovery of this Korean Metal song on an adventure through youtube. The latter has also hinted at enjoying Dream Theater, likely due to them being rather weird and somewhat pretentious.

I don't tell people that, but people usually tell me I have a good taste in music. I listen to a lot of stuff, except for country and rap (save for a song here and there). Anything else I can listen to.

Not really, because my top 3 most listened to artists are Led Zeppelin, Eminem, and Lady Gaga.
I listen to a wide range of music.
Holy shi...

Who are you? Am I posting by another profile in my sleep?

OT: People tell me I need to listen to country. I hate those people so much.

People tell me that I have a very limited taste in music, to which I respond

"So what if all I listen to is J-pop? It's awesome!!!!!

No. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard someone say that before, to me or anyone else.

Of course, I've thought it before, but never actually said it out loud. And thinking it is much less douchey, right? ...Right?

People tell me this all the time and every time I agree with them. I know practically nothing about American music and this has often left me with nothing to say when i'm with my friends.

I'm usually the one telling that to other people.

To me, someone who listens to whatever is number one in the pop charts should be treated with the same amount of disgust lavished on casual gamers. Expanding their tastes can lead to a richer experience for all involved.

I sometimes get told to stop listening to so much music, but that's about it.

Oh, and everything is music.

I've never had anyone tell me to listen to more music, but a lot of people have tried to make me listen to certain types of music. I've had some people say my music taste is varied, and some who say that it's very limited, and if they think that, then I'm willing to take their recommendations into account.

Well, I was actually the one who said it to my "friend". He put on this song:
I told him to "Get out of my house"
He laughed.
I wasn't joking -.-

No. I, on multiple occasions, have said it to other people, however.

Although only if I thought it would actually be worthwile, and something they could possibly enjoy.
