See, what you don't understand is that the game is a parody of itself; it's supposed to be violent, sexist, and immature. That's its charm; it's the "Grindhouse double feature" of video games.
Sorry, what?
How is it a parody of itself? I couldn't give a shit if it's a parody or not, I don't enjoy, or find funny, the immaturity, or the sexism.
I understand fully that it's supposed to be those things, I mean seriously, that's the most obvious thing about the game.
That doesn't mean I like it.

Placing bets on Australia ban - NOW.

There's immaturity, then this. How fucking ridiculous.
I'm definately not getting this, and I stand by my prediction in a post I did a couple of weeks ago that Duke will simply not live up to the hype. Either that, or it will, and then everyone'll sort of sober up from the 15-year-long hype and then realise it's a shit game. Which I think it will be. Go on Duke, prove me wrong, with your mediocre graphics, stupidly simple gameplay and less maturity than a 7-year-old.
That's kinda the whole point of the game. You see, games these days, FPS games in particular, take themselves way to seriously. We need something immature and just pure mindless fun shooting aliens like in the 90's.

The urinating thing was to be expected since you can do it in Duke's other games, but the poop throwing thing seemed like a bit of a curve ball. Not that I have anything wrong with that, I have utmost trust in Duke, it's just that it doesn't seem very practical for fighting aliens with. So what, does he just throw crap around for the lulz? Is he just trying to prove that there's literally nothing he can do to make himself seem less badass?
I do hope that the poop throwing has some practical application. Something like:
In bathroom, pig cop bursts in.
Throw poop in it's eyes, hands go up to wipe eyes.
Mighty boot to the groin, pig cop crumples.
Shoot it in the face. Insert witty Duke One-liner. MASSIVE EGO BOOST.

Wow. They actually finally released it. I wonder if it will be as horrible as its predecessors were when they came out, or if it'll as blatantly rip off Raimi and Campbell

I'm quite surprised ESRB accepted it! Well the question now is will it actually release? reach other countries' censors.
Germany and Australia will probably ban it from idle conversation, let alone store shelves.

OT: I can't say I'm surprised, this *is* Duke Nukem we're talking about here. If it was mature then we would be crying foul like a losing football player.
Sex is a big thing in the usa and china, in germany violence against humans is .
Actuall nudity is something you get in standart tv at any age and is 16+ in videogames.
And were speaking of actuall nudity, not implied nudity like in duke nukem.
If the violence is only against aliens and robots it might get a 16+ rating.
For banning you need Postal style violence against realistic humans, only about 9 games ever got banned.
So no it won't get banned unless they splash Heil Hitler over the screen after each kill or sth.

Wait... an FPS that doesn't take itself more seriously than brain surgery?

I'm glad this is finally made. Duke Nukem has always been fun because of the fact that it KNOWS how lame it's storyline is and uses that to help achieve it's ultimate goal: be extremely crude and violent.
I still can't wait to see how the news reacts to this.

Just sayin, Okami let you piss and crap on enemies, and it even gave you bonuses for it. JUST SAYIN'

Edit: Thrown up only as comparison, because no one really cared. Everyone loved Okami. That kind of aspect was overlooked. I think society, and the ESRB, has matured enough to not care as much about that kind of stuff. Toilet humour has become so prevalent in society, we care a lot less about it. Even sex is commonplace now. Yeah, it's over the top, but I don't think they'll get a ton of controversy outside FOX and other sensationalist reviewers.

How is it a parody? Well, for starters, Duke has an "Ego" meter, not a health bar. It's pretty much lampshading the fact that the only way any of this makes sense is by willing suspension of disbelief, even by the main character.

The trick to enjoying stupid stuff like this is to get over your own sense that you're "above" it. You aren't: everyone is an immature twelve-year-old deep down inside. Just relax and enjoy the goofy, tasteless fun.

Yeah, I'm still in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp. Not yet entirely convinced that it isn't all just a big marketing hoax...

I'm sure it will be a practical and tasteful application of the gamplay mechanic, which will most definitely be handled maturely. Here's mud in your eye. XD

YES!! Another immature game that all the "grown-ups" hate (please note; i'm referring to all of the people who feel themselves above crude or sexual jokes not actual adults as that would be hypocritical) Can I hear an amen... or, or not.

Except for places like Australia and Germany, which outright forbid games to ship if they're too violent, the US is the only place where getting a high rating is the death knell for a game, due to the Wal-Mart ban and such. In most other countries it'll get the 18+ rating it deserves and just sell normally, since in these countries most highly violent games are 18+ anyway.

I get a suspicious feeling the ESRB are focusing on the worst (read: best) parts of the game.

Well mate, for those of us whose first exposure to the FPS genre was Duke Nukem games, you might forgive us for wanting a return to the kind of game were saving the world from aliens is FUN.

Both styles will have their place, under the right hand a game like CoD could be a tight, geo-political thriller in the cutscenes and stunning, balls to the wall gunfights in the gameplay.

But sometimes, you just wanna be the guy, who snaps off a one-liner while he blows away hordes of aliens with a giant blasty bollocks canon and saves hot chicks. This game is our A-Team: the protagonists having fun, is a good way to allow us to have fun.
