Anyway I would recommend that you watch benchnarks that shows speed on write/read and access time on ssd and 10k rpm hdds since pretty much nobody does game load times test.

on the same processor, the SSD handled the load screen in approx 4 seconds

Well, the longest load time I experience is with Rome: Total War, but that's because I mostly play mods that push the engine to its limits. Even then, I mostly just look at the nice artwork on the load screen or something similar really.

But that is only a 5400 RPM hard drive if i'm correct. I have a 10k SATA 6 and am wondering how those compare. Anecdotal evidence is fine with me, because now that i remember; BF3 does have some insane 20-30 sec load times with my HD.ResonanceSD said:yundex said:

I either start blaring the Rolling Stones or I try to make a small dent in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne or A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway.

When I was playing X3: Reunion around 10+ hours a day I would sometimes get up to go get some food, or go to the bathroom, or wander around the house to stretch my legs while the game was loading between gates.
I used to do this until one day I got up to make a sandwich for lunch and it took a bit longer than it should have and the next system loaded and left me in front of the gate and a massive TL station carrier ran my tiny little scout ship over killing me with barely even a love tap. After that I would wait for the loading zones to finish and get away from the gates before I went and made a sandwich.
Now since I don't really play any games that have those kinds of massively long loading times I usually just sit and wait, maybe fiddle with things on my desk because it always seems to be cluttered with half finished projects and just general crap.

I am generally busy thinking about what game I'd rather be playing so I can quit this one and go play that instead.
Generally I hum little melodies to myself. Most of the time they evolve into giant air guitar solos, depending on the duration of the load.
I have a bottle of water next to me whenever I'm playing so that I can take a sip whenever I hit a loading screen. Not only does it give me something to do but it also means I don't have to stop playing to go get some water. Its also healthy (easily the healthiest habit I have).
