I loved how fluid the combat motions were in DW6/Empires. But the use of your heavy attack is now much more detached. I loved(in the previous games) having a variety of different finishing attacks depending on when in the combo you hit 'heavy attack'. You had so much more control of the attacks you were doing, rather than just endlessly looping a certain set.

I'd bring back the old combat system, but leave in the motion capture. Also, the musou attack should not just be a powerful and fast version of your normal attack motions. Seriously, they were hyped about the mo-cap, but they really cheap'd out on it, just re-using as much of it as possible.

All it would take is a decent budget, and more development time, and they could really take DW to the next level. But every incarnation always seems to be a disappointment.

I'm not sure. Ask me again when I'm not waiting anxiously for Samurai Warriors 3 to come out.

How about stopping the series? But since they won't... Then make more characters, more historical accuracy, getting the pronunciations of the names right, make a better control system that can control a camera, and most importantly changing the genre to something else.

Why stop the series? Dont like it, dont buy it. I will though. Koei just understands gamers better than gamers themselves do.

I disagree with all of that except the pronunciations (EDIT: and the camera. Silly me.).

Have they stopped calling him "Cow Cow" yet?

Heh..."Cow Pee"...

But yes, I agree with most of the decisions here...as long as it is released on the PS2 too..people are still making games for that thing, and i dont have a PS3/360

GIVE ZHEN JI HER FLUTE BACK YOU FRICKING BASTARDS ARRGGHHH I HATE YOU SOOOO MUCH.

*pants* Okay, now that that's out of the way I want: more silliness, historical accuracy and competent acting would ruin the charm of the series for me, the "finisher" combo system back, where, depending on how big the combo is, the "heavy attack" button would do a different move to finish the combo. Finally, and this is probably the biggest one for me, make musuo attacks actually powerful, the DW6 version just didn't seem very strong to me. When I use it I want everything in a 5 mile radius dead(including my teammates, stupid bastards stealing my kills). Uhm, that's pretty much it for the most part, I really enjoyed DW6, it had tons of flaws but they were flaws in a good way that makes the game more "fun" for me. I don't really go to Dynasty Warriors for a high quality gaming experience, some of the stupidity is what makes it special.

Why did they take away Zhou Tai katana. WHY?!

Koei did a lot of bad things with DW6 but i have to say i loved Cao Ren new outfit. He looks like a freaking walking tank.

Holy crap, people on this forum like Dynasty Warriors? Awesome!

*ahem* Anyway. I would like some stuff from the old combat system to return. Specifically, the multiple finishers. The new heavy attack in 6 just felt a bit... off. Especially since the "crowd control" heavy attack sucked compared to the "combo" one.

Also, seriously. Bring old characters back, and bring back some of the old weapons. Even with characters cut out, some of the characters are outright clones of each other, something that hasn't been in the series since 2. (AKA, the first "proper" one, going by the Japanese names.) Zhou Tai needs his katana, Sun Ce needs his tonfas, and give Lady Sun and Yue Ying some actual fucking melee weapons. Zhou Yu also needs to lose the knee-high hooker boots.

At least the voice acting is improving, in that they're actually pronouncing "Cao Cao" properly in 6.

True that. I am a total sucker for this series. They add a new number to it, and bam. I get it, regardless of its perceived or actual quality.

more battle field events and not just go here and beat this guy before times up. have a bunch of things happening at once, too many to get to all of them so you have to pic and choose. of course you have to make the advantage and penalties for completing or failing an event balance right. small events would have little impact big events would likewise have bing impact. i would really add to the depth of the game and give you a sense that you were playing the game the way you wanted by choosing what events to do or not do.

example: you didn't back your horse calvery so they didn't break through the front lines but you did back your archers who snunk beind the enemy lines and are now shooting them in the back.

So they can fucking reuse the same motions and attacks. Zhou Tai is just one example of a character now sharing his moveset with two or three others.

I love playing as Sun Shang Xiang in DW6, and being able to make my own character with her fighting style is lots of fun in DW6 Empires, one thing I think they need to do is add more character skins, with unique mouso attacks, for example Gan ning's mouso attack in DW5 was quite fun and made me feel slightly like a ninja...

Dynasty Warriors is straying down a trechorous path: Realism.

I have only played DW5, 6 and 6: Empires, and one big thing I noticed was the attack combos became more fluid fighting styles, but they took away the awesome feeling of the Ninja gaiden style attacks that had you flipping around and looking awesome, also, I can imagine a lot of people used spears back then, that doesn't mean half the characters in the games need to use spears...

Overall DW6, and the Empires installment are just great, but like I said....realism...not good for the game...

Off topic: Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce went the complete opposite way of realism and took the Dragon ball Z approach...that didn't work as well as it could have, but the idea of having mouso put you into a rage sort of mode to let you go on a rampage, OR use a devastating clearing attack was very good on their part and I think they should keep it, but maybe take away the ability to basicly fly, die multiple times etc..

If they made Strikeforce in the same style of open world conflict that the normal DW is accustomed to, it would have been much better, liniarity is BAD for the series.
