Sword control is nice, but what is really selling me is the shield control. That sounds both interesting and quite intuitive.

And for those that say they arnt buying it, its Zelda. If the only way for me to play it was repeatedly slamming my head into a wall-like controller, I'd still buy it.

A classic controller option would be nice though when I get bored of swinging.

Watched the demo and it looked a little finicky but that could have been due to sensitivity options. I had the same problems with Wii Sports Resort until I toyed with that and now it works really well.

I did like the multiple styles of bomb throws and I can guarantee there will be a bomb bowling mini-game

So nice of them to give Hyrule back all of it's primary colors...

It's gonna be REALLY hard to resist declaring that one does, in fact, "have the power" when doing the "point it at the sky" thing.

Theme of the pressers thus far - MICROSOFT: "Here's our new version of The Wii." NINTENDO: "Here's our version of... ourselves, circa 1998."

Seems to basically be a Zelda-fied Wii Sports Resort. Bomb-throwing = Basketball/Bowling, Bow = Archery, Beetle = Airplane, etc.

Even so, it looks great, and will undoubtedly be a blast. I definitely like the art direction this time around; a lot brighter and more cheerful than Twilight Princess. Can't wait see more, especially regarding the plot.

Traditional control option please.

Been emailing them about that for going on 4 months now. They always respond, if only to thank me for my comments and to let me know that my opinion has been forwarded to the right people.

Don't know how much good that will do. *looks at watch* AHHH! Time for me to email them again.

Nice. I'm interested and really looking forward to what nintendo do with the motion controls (as they tend to like to push the boat out and show off what their hardware can do to embaress third party developers).

I'm hoping if they do release a controller version, its for the gamecube only. Teach those moaning gits.

It looks decent enough, but what I really want to know about is the actual game itself. Is this going to be the same Zelda we've been playing for years now or have they actually decided to do something different with it other than the waggle control (yes, it's more full motion but even Miyamoto was waggling half the time and it seemed to work just as well as really doing the motions).

Sign me up! I never understand the objection to the Wii's controls. I haven't really used the MotionPlus much (don't own Wii Sports Resort) but it never required that much exertion to flick your wrist. Seriously, who are these people complaining like:

Only talking about the motion controls, are they John? Did they say anything about options to use a classic controller if the player (like me) thinks motion controls are a waste of time? If not, it's time for me to yell at Nintendo...again.

They need to understand this. If I want to excercise, I'll ride a bike or go running. If I want to sit on my ass and do nothing, I'll play video games. AND I DO NOT WANT THOSE TWO PAST TIMES INTERMINGLING!! /rant
Heaven forbid we have to sit up or *gasp* stand to play our games. Fight through the carpal tunnel and muscle through that first heart attack, skipper. No one's asking you join the marines, just move your arm a little. Or don't buy the game. Since when does Nintendo owe anything to anyone?

Then again, I'm the sort of person who stands to play Guitar Hero. I feel like a tool if I just sit there when a game assumes I'm standing.

I just hope they make the GC controller work too! Because if this motion thing fails its fair to say that the game will still be awesome.

Glad I didn't sell my Wii. :D

I like this idea but I'm worried that it will blow up in Nintendo's face. I also hope that there will be a classic controller option, but chances are that I'm going to play with motion plus.

The 1:1 is a lie, watching it now and it's so finicky. It's quite funny really, BUT if the actual release has more streamlined controls, it'll probably be a good game.

EDIT: They're also 'apparently' having inteference from other devices...I don't believe that for a second...
Oh please. Do you really think Nintendo would intentionally debut something like that if they weren't confident in it? Nintendo is more savvy than that.

We'll be at the Nintendo booth this week to find out for sure.
In fact I do. Look at the Wii. I can't say how terrible the controls were before motion plus. And even now with motion plus the controls still leave a lot to be desired. The motion control in most games right now boils down to "flay arms wildly about in random directions"
Red Steel 2 says otherwise, considering the controls were designed so you can't "flay arms wildly about in random directions".

You're making yourself sound like you haven't played with the Motion Plus before, to say it leaves something to be desired, because the only thing it's lacking is depth, and that's not needed on a 2D screen. Granted there was a lot of shovelware or poorly implemented controls that show how badly it can go wrong (and there is some real trash out there), no one is denying that.

What Funk is saying is that if the game didn't work as desired, not only would they not showcase it, but they wouldn't have 20 odd booths at their keynote for every journalist to try the game.

I watched this live and was laughing at the fact that miyamoto has trouble playing his own game. Its not that he sucked, its just that he had so many fails live and it was funny.

That pretty much sums up my feelings as well. I've never really been disappointed by Zelda games in the past and I'm confident this will result in something great. Something I actually find more interesting at the moment than the controls is the new game structure which will divert from the standard do-stuff, get-to-dungeon, get-new-item, defeat-boss-and-get-McGuffin, repeat routine and become less predictable and more Metroid-like.

Anyway, this certainly will be a guaranteed purchase for me.

Well this certainly wasn't what I Was expecting... We'll see how it turns out but being a Zelda game, I'll probably get it sooner or later.
