I'd be the first to pay for additional online content or bonuses except for one thing: my PS3 is just about loaded to capacity! (and I'm working two jobs, right now...priorities are getting in the way of me and my gaming)

If someone could msg me about how to add memory, I'd be, like, your bestest friend ever! Any kind souls, out there?

I've taken advantage of the PSN every chance I've had, so I'm only to willing to pay up front for some extra bonuses. Maybe Sony can use the extra cash to improve the service even more? Betas and demos are great, I like discounts...this is good news, to me.
Your best bet is to back up your game data and transfer it to a new, larger harddrive. It takes very little tech know-how, but you might want to get a new PS3 and ethernrt cable for maximum smoothness as an alternative(You can move yor game files straight to another console's harddrive, but be warned that it wipes both drives of what was origianally on there). If you don't have the funds for a new console however, just go for the harddrive upgrade... Or delete some old saves, of course.

Well this is how online should be. Play for everyone, and access to the store, but then something extra for those that want to pay.

This sounds exactly the same as what Sony have been doing for months now. Before they just had little "digital magazine"'y type things, like FirstPlay and the US equivalent.

Now they're just passing the same service off as some sort of superior PSN thing :p

I can't believe that people are being so receptive and positive about this. Firstly, I play xbox360 and pay for gold subscription on a yearly basis. I was never envious of PSN being free but obviously recognized the PS3 owners were getting a pretty good deal. This, however, is asking people to pay for something that a) is un-necessary and b) offers very little. Honestly, if XBL were free, I wouldn't be opting to pay for the minimal extras this offers. We'll see how many playstation players are.

Maybe MS could learn from this model.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I was pretty sure all Live Gold members already had exclusive demos and betas, and even Silver members get free updates and patches. The only thing new thing I see here is the discounted PSN games.
Xbox Live Gold members already get discounts--they might cycle through, but deal of the week discounts games pretty handsomely.

Basically the PS3's major trump card is free online gaming. Xbox has all of this already plus cross game support (can't believe they didn't add this to PSN Subscription!)
See I was looking at the whole "crazy" idea of free multiplayer. Ooooooohh what a crazy idea. Then again I'm a pc gamer. Also I'm not quite sure what cross gaming support is besides the fact that they can get pwned by PC gamers.
Wish I could buy games for the PC, but between DRM trying to blast our asses and the fact that none of my friends want to invest in a PC gaming rig when they can buy a console that is guaranteed to run any and all titles for about 5-10 years, I'm stuck with buying Xbox/PS3 games. Which I'm fine with.

I don't agree that Microsoft should charge for online gaming; I was simply trying to point out that this article is basically a press release trying to hype changes to PSN as if they're something so revolutionary that we should all learn French and start decapitating monarchs. I love gaming on PSN because it's free, but the PSN Plus just sounds like adding features Xbox Live already has without some features that are really nice (i.e. cross gaming support, party systems, etc.)
