*I* play MW for the story, and MW3 will expand on that story. I'm looking forward to the (presumed) final chapter of this story.

Lol.

OT: There's nothing wrong with explosion porn. People just get this pissed off about Modern Warfare 2, and now myabe 3, being such because MW1 was so much More than Explosion porn. That's what irritates people, myself included.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Activision knows FUCK ALL about marketing and just showed off the worst levels? Maybe it WILL be as awesome as MW1 and not explosion porn. If it is(which seems unlikely), I'll try it out.

sounds like the usual for CoD games

rereading my quote and wording... yeah, derp, sorry.

To clarify, I'm an outsider looking in on this franchise and since MW1 the general consensus I've been hearing single player is decent to good and the multiplayer better than ever. It's practically a slogan now.

I watched some gameplay and it seemed boring to me. This Survival Mode sounds okay, but I don't think it will be enough for me to purchase it; not straight away, at least.

-sigh- what happened to this site. For some reason I seem to remember people actually respecting each others opinion. Maybe that was an anomaly...

This. This is so totally on the mark. After being introduced to the CoD series (as a long-time RPG / RTS player) with the excellent CoD4:MW, I was massively disappointed by the MW2 single-player.

And after diving into the utter cesspit that is CoD MP, I was not at all interested in going back in MW2 to give it another go.

It's safe to say that I'm not going to be picking up this CoD title either.

Complete mayhem and bombast, and lots of explosions? Good!

Jesus guys, when did these things become bad things in the gaming world?
when they happened in games that were supposed to be somewhat "realistic" I was watching
oh hell Ill just link it

the thing looks silly with explosions and hollywood bs, no part of it really looks realistic anymore, it just looks hollywood out the ass now
So you are criticising a game for not being realistic? Nice.
Im mostly criticizing the game for being hollywood, by that I mean, it seems like the sort of game that would have you shoot down 15 jets with an aa gun just because they thought it would be cool
How else would you fight jets then? Not also that, but you can't just generalise a game for being "hollywood" because it isn't made by Hollywood.
obviously you bring down jets with fisticuffs, what sort of barbarian are you?
this is what Im talking about

I think if this was the first Modern Warfare game, everyone would be just fine with it. The problem is most of us can't help comparing it to the actual first Modern Warfare which was a lot more about the pacing and variety. Now it seems to be more about just spectacle. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but just seems like a backwards step for this franchise.

In short, I found the stealthy sections in the first MW way more intense and memorable than any loud thing that happened in Black Ops.

I'll still get this game, but right now it's looking like I'll get it used

Wonder how long the single player is? I remember playing MW2(I had not played a COD game since COD2 on the PC) and a few hours later it ended and I was one miffed camper.

Fighting in London; so that will be next to Big Ben, near a red bus, taxi, phone box, some awful Van Dyke style accents, and possibly Buckingham Palace squeezed in there.

...I say set it in Cornwall and see how elite these troops are at surviving the 'local's.

Maybe every other level in the game will feature amazing story and 0 explosions. Completely Covert Ops stealth mission the likes we've never seen. Then again i will just wait for it to come out see someone else play it and know that everything i expect it to be is true.

Also i like to use this.
I'm not actually a Futurama fan. I just use it cause it's pretty much Rhetoric at this point.

Also, yeah that is exactly what I plan to do as well for MW3. Just watch a Let's Play of it. I mean it looks like it'll be just an On-rails shooter like MW2, so I see no harm done.

I just have to find one where a snot-nosed, frat boy isn't constantly yapping over it, because as much as I laugh at CoD, you don't talk over Hans Zimmer.

What pissed me off most about the demo most, it seems that Hanz Zimmer doesn't seem to be composing the music, Mw2's soundtrack was ball off the wall amazing and the music in the trailer seems like rehashed cod4 tracks.

Well, it's certainly Call of Duty.

But I'm gonna be honest, I don't think they are even trying anymore. I can safely assume that the creative team behind CoD4 is completely gone.

It does look good, but it doesn't really seem to be challenging itself. I am interested to see how this story ends (and if the dislike bar means anything to Activision, this will be the last CoD game).

Hopefully Vince Zampella and that other guy's new team brings out something this year (because they definitely are developing something). Maybe they'll be the one's to break their own Multiplayer trend.

And I have absolutely no faith in Battlefield 3 seeing how the last 2 games DICE put out were almost complete disasters on Console.

Not a great year for FPS's but a damn good year for gaming.

Eh, being too much like Black Ops in design sounds like I won't particularly enjoy MW3's levels or presentation, but seeing as how CoD is basically the extent of my interest in shooters, I'm probably going to get it. Unless it turns out the demo for Battlefield 3 really sells me on it, but, for some reason, I've never been able to get into Battlefield games except on PC. On console, they're pretty much useless.

Same old shit. Piss off Activision. MW3's greatest use will be luring in all the camping and/or quickscoping asshats away from BF3.

I dont believe that CoD can be good, considering that the programmers who make the games, are not typically the guys who make the game balanced for multiplayer. with the loss of the real heads of Infinity ward gone, i cant believe that MW3 will be good.

The part where MW's gameplay really clicks for me is not in the heavily scripted seqeunces it focuses on, but in the more open ended spec ops stuff. Put you in a section of the woods with several pissed off militia and a rifle and saying "do whatever the hell you want" and the resulting unscripted mayhem is quite fun.

I really would like to see them try open world. This linear stuff gets old after four or five games of the same thing.

I wasn't listening, but yeah the MW2 soundtrack was epic.
