Cautiously optimistic.
There's a lot of good here to like, and the setting of post-apocalpyse is one of my favourites.
The only negative I can see is partner AI. I don't trust it in any game, and a game built around two people working together could be ruined by one partner being a liability instead of a help.
But that's the only nitpick. Tone, characterisation, setting, graphics look very fine...
This could well be the game that convinces me to buy a PlayStation 3.

Any new IP by Naughty Dog deserves my undivided attention, and probably and immediate preorder, and The Last of Us is no exception. Seriously, this looks awesome.
My mental nickname for this game is "I Can't Believe It's Not Ellen Page." Other than that, though, I'm looking forward to it.
I shouldn't be this impressed that a game set after the apocalypse has actual color in it. But then, that's what I get for skipping out on Dead Island. Like everyone else has said, Ellie's going to make or break the game. The article made having to worry about her a little bit like an escort mission, except it's the whole game. Which, I'd make a pun or a metaphor or something about the number of people who like escort missions, but I'm too lazy. (Hint: no one does)
Please make the controls better than Uncharted. Please. I love everything about the game so far, literally everything, but please make it fun to play.
Definitely interested in this game, have been since I saw the original trailer for it. I think the big breaker for it is if it turns out being like RE4 with our new protagonists reprising Leon and Ashley's roles. So far I'm seeing that as a worst case scenario, and since this is Naughty Dog we're talking about making this game I'm not too worried about that. I'm watching this one an hoping for a new spin on the biological apocalypse that doesn't tread the same path that everyone else seems to have done.

I really don't understand why Ashley was such a terrible NPC to escort for some people. Gameplay-wise she does everything you need her to: staying out of your line of fire. When you aim your gun, she moves behind you. If not, she ducks underneath your aim. She knew her place and didn't try to help you (Sheva was HORRIBLE by comparison), so the only inputs you needed to give her were hiding in a dumpster where nothing can touch her or holding her position presumably in a safe location.Fayathon said:

What's that? A vulnerable female character is kidnapped and threatened to motivate a grizzled male protagonist, and he will have to employ violent means to rescue her?
It's an original premise. I think there's some really profound discussions of normative gender roles and psychology to be mined out of it. I look forward to deep satire and reflection upon how our evolutionary origins clash with the nature of civilisation in a world where we're forced to come up with new social orders rather than simply rely on tradition. I'm sure that will all be in there.

So you take a middle aged Nathan Drake protagonist and Ellen Page, and throw em in I Am Legend.
You know...I'm really not to thrilled because it doesn't sound as revolutionary as they make it out to be. Just seems like another third person shooter with probably cover and infected critters. Oh and bandits. Lots of filler bandits to kill to reach your destination. Make it kinda sappy like I Am Alive tried to be and BAM its a game for the times.
Yaawwwwwnnnn. I know it sounds like it could be well made, but it also sounds rehashed from other popular/not so popular games/movies so its going to have to do something spectacular.

But it has the potential to be much much more. There could be stealth, there will probably be multiple ways to reach the objective, the story actually has something to it, even if it does fall to the standard gender roles. Like the article said, it sounds like someone made "The Road" into a game sans nuclear holocaust and changed the son to a daughter figure.Don Savik said:
