Just for my own perspective, how many hours per day / week did you average playing the game? Be honest please I want to better understand how one can determine that an MMO is too easy.

I myself average 8-12 hours per week gaming in general (which is a major reason why I don't play MMOs anymore - no time to dedicate).
Well honestly and again I am a natural soloist so I would invariably need more time than what people could do in a group, my figure varied. When I played heavily It was likely around 15-20 hours a week, But as school started up I had to withdrawl on that time to about 5-10 hours a week, I bumped up again in febuary to about 20 hours a week, then I basically played nothing (not ToR, anything) from mid march till about 3 days ago.

I currently sit at 42 and I have roughly 70 hours invested into my main and about 30 into alts. That figure stands very similar to my single player affairs. My Dark Souls main is at 82 hours and is at level 52

And again, I played ToR incredibly casually because honestly I do not like star wars, I do not like the WoW gameplay mechanics, and the ONLY reason I played was to have a chance to play with a friend I met back in EQ, and played FFXI with and we hadnt played an MMO together in quite a while. Had it not been for that, my play hours would have likely been zero because I am after playing 100+ MMOs burnt out on the formula.

But again, I know had I had the ambition, I could have still played casually (IE averaging 10-20 hours a week) and made it from 1-50 in about a month and a half to two months easily.

Why the fuck do you wanna misspell it?
We could ask the same about Americans
the whole damn english language is adaptations and misspellings from other languages... way to turn this into a nationality issue.

although, to be quaint, this is an american based website, if you really wanna nitpick, it's gonna be honor.

(although the prick you quoted probably didn't realize most words are spelled different across seas, rather than all english being the same.)
HEY THANKS, BUDDY.

And I'm not the one who started it.

I'm not really seeing what Zhukov started *looks a bit closer* hmmm, it's as I suspected, he started nothing!

Seriously, he said "must not add "u" to honor" because us across the pond spell honour with a "u". Just like we spell colour with a "u" and Americans don't. It was clearly just a joke and you're the one who got all serious and jumped down his throat about it. You, sir, are the one who started it.
Uh, no. It had fuck all to do with the topic and he just did it to be a pedantic anglophone. Like every other one on this site. There is only one pedantic anglophone that manages to do it right and he's got a web series.

Are you sure it's not just people lashing out at Bioware for their dwindling quality of late?

Could this be the first successful gaming boycott?

Or maybe it's just what I said before Old Republic was even released. I believe it went a little something like: "You can't compete with WOW and you're stupid for trying"

Either way I'm glad to see Bioware suffering.
I hope you're glad to see them "suffering" as a reminder to retain the qualities which made their previous games successful. If you enjoy them suffering for the sake of suffering, I find that unhealthy.
Honestly I haven't played Old Republic because I don't like Multyplayer (Which is why I liked Bioware so much) So I don't even really know if it's good or not.
But according to the evidence they released two very bad games (DA2 ME3) in the span of making Old Republic.
One of which is arguably the most important game release in history. (Mass Effect 3 was basically the make or break moment for the future of player controlled narrative series, and to be charitable with my descriptive adjectives it was completely FUBAR)

So even if the death of The Old Republic means Bioware can return to it's former glory they already fucked the most important thing they'll ever do.

So honestly I'm not sure if I want them to suffer "back to what they once were" or just dissolve and fade away entirely. It is possible that I just want them to suffer for hurting the future of single player gaming, because the thought of their next game being as good as their pre Old Republic stuff might make what they've already done even worse. (Because anyone with half a brain could tell Old Republic was doomed to fail from the get-go)

I must say, I'm a tad confused about stuff like this.

Did any rational person not expect this to happen?

1. SWtOR was extremely overhyped, like most MMO launches are nowadays.
2. SWtOR whilst in my opinion a very good game, wasn't (obviously) the best MMO mankind has ever created or will ever create.

The logical conclusion follows:

A large amount of players unrealistically believing it to be the best MMO mankind has ever created or will ever create ended up disappointed and stopped subscribing.

This news does not mean SWtOR is dying. 1.3 million players is a very respectable population unless you're the type of person who believes MMOs require 10 million players in order to be called a success.
It merely means there were 400.000 players who got carried away by the hype and purchased a product they didn't really want.

SWtOR did not loose 400.000 subscribers from it's core playerbase as much as it had 400.000 additional people who were not part of it's core playerbase pay for it for a few months.

I believe SWtOR is a good game, not an amazingly awesome game. It won't be remembered as anything but another MMO 20 years from now besides possible mentions of the first MMO doing story and companions if that catches on. But it's definitely not an overdone pile of shit destined for F2P in a few months.

I still always accidentally add the u to "honor" and "color," and I haven't lived anywhere that uses that spelling for years

OT: Maybe if it wasn't subscription based, and maybe if EA wasn't filled with massive moneygrubbing twats with no concept of how to make a decent distribution system that gamers will like, their games would maintain sales. I become extremely disappointed in my fellow consumers every time EA pulls their latest bullshit move and people still buy their games.

It wasn't good enough to justify no eating, heat, or electricity the rest of the semester so I stopped giving them money. Also I have a lifetime sub for Lord of the Rings Online to tide me over >:) But hey, TOR is the best online exclusive single player rpg I've played to date.

I already gave you a proper response when I told you Zhukov did nothing wrong and that you were the one that started the ad-hominem ranting for something that was no more than a joke.

Your original post was

A. Wrong about misspelling considering we spell honour with a u

and

B) came across as hostile with the unnecessary swear word in the post.

Now go to your corner and calm down.

Think I'll just stick with EVE online, casuals don't honestly exist in that game.
Indeed. For a game that is 9 years old and to still be the only MMO with a growing fanbase that shiat says something.

Fly safe o7

And for those who think EVE is a boring spaceship game I bring you
http://tacticalentertainment.tv/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/eve-wtd.jpg
Because nothing says "Exciting space adventure!" like an organizational chart.

Oh, and I love how the entire PvP section is "be a massive dick to everybody else"
Someone let the obvious fly right by. That chart is all the jobs and activities to do. PvPing in EVE is risky. Not everyone in EVE is a dick, but when it comes to combat you have to expect people to be vicious. It's not WoW where you just get back up and fight. If you can't take the fact that battles are ment to be aggressive and violent than you should stray far from this.

old republic should have never been an mmo in the first place. there is no reason why another party member couldnt be controlled by a player if they wanted to add mulitplayer but going the mmo route was a sad cash grab. it had found its niche and should have stayed there.

Let me tell you EA, I paid for a month. I'm no casual, I just thought it was shit.

I never played it at all. I refuse to pay monthly fees to almost any game, and MMO's are usually not worth that money. Food is. So is rent. Health insurance. Dwarf Fortress.
Health insurance isn't, if you are healthy. Maybe catastrophic insurance, but that's it, then everything else out of pocket, then have a ton of money left over to play multiple MMOs and buy better food.
Sorry, but we are forced to get basic health insurance in my country. So we have to pay up... roughly 100 euros every month. From 18 to death. And I don't play MMO just because I don't want to pay, I just don't like the damn soulsucking black holes. The only one I dabble in occassionally is World of Tanks. But then again, that one is free.

I quit my SWTOR subscription because I'm a casual gamer.

After my initial months of playing the game hardcore style, I'd only want to put in a few hours a week. This isn't realistic with a $15.00 subscription fee so I left.

I love that SWTOR plays like a single player game, if only it didn't cost so much more than one. I just hope this goes free to play in the coming years so I can revisit it.
