yeah, I own a PS3 and a DS(for nostalgic purposes) and a PC, sort of, I say that because it can play games but usually crashes on most games which is why I don't buy computer games anymore.Megacherv said:

He's got a very good point about brand recognition, my Mum has thinks Playstation is a synonym for gaming and has been referring to all my consoles and my gaming PC as a "Playstation" since 1996. If I'm playing a game she'll say I'm "on the Playstation" regardless of what platform I'm actually using.
Like the term "Joystick" of old, the name "Playstation" is a excellent name for a gaming brand and is very evocative of what it does.
Win what you stupid little EA troll? The only people who use console sales as an indication of "which console is the winner" are fanboys. If you're not one, it doesn't mean much. The fact that both are over 40 million is great for both platforms, I'd say they are both winners. So why don't shut your mouth and go back to bogging down PC games with restrictive DRM, ruining Command and Conquer, and shutting down servers Mr. Riccitiello?

inFamous? You want him to enjoy a Playstation 3, not say "This thing sucks!" and have him smash it. Never recommend inFamous as a selling point for the system unless you're trying to sell it to people who want to use it to torture others. That's really the only thing inFamous is good for, torture. America and the UK prefer xbox, alot of europe prefer Xbox
only in Japan and maybe china has the xbox not sold as well.
I've sold far more xbox than PS3 simply because its cheaper, there are more preowned games for it and the kinect is far more interesting than the move.
I work in the retail industry and from my experience Xbox is far more popular, the people who buy ps3 are the people who owned ps2 because they seem to think because ps2 was awesome that the ps3 is madly awesome which simply is no longer true.

Blu ray will be swept under by the digital distribution market and will never outsell dvd, the hardware is simply to expensive in a time where the whole world is feeling the pinch of economic downturn.

the only thing I will concede is that the PS3 will outlive the xbox because the hardware is better but by that time i think they will just make another xbox :/
xbox has MUCH better marketing, its cheaper and its games are rooted in western culture, japan is lacking in the awesome game department atm. only capcom have kept up. plus the controllers are more comfy but thats just me.
ps3 is catching up now because everyone already has an xbox and they have been marketing alot better recently.
I'd love a ps3 but I wouldnt pay for one, when xbox is cheaper and does exactly the same, the hardcore gamer market are the only ones who care about exclusives and the hardcore gamer market is TINY compared to the parents buying shit for their kids market and the guy who plays is now and again market, and they will always go for price.

Wait. You didn't like inFamous? I hate to break it to you, but I'm pretty sure everyone else really like it. It's got a sequel coming, soon, after all. Personally, I really enjoyed it. The powers were a lot of fun. And grinding power-lines and floating were always fun! Out of curiosity, why don't you like it?mjc0961 said:

InFamous: I played Prototype, close enough, there are plenty of sandbox superhero games
Bluray: I use my console for gaming, not watching over priced Blu Ray dvds, I just watch movies on my computer with an HDMI extending it to the TV, cheap and effective
Free Online Play: When you're spending $60 for new releases, anybody heavily considering $5 a month a deal breaker is insane.
I'm not saying the PS3 is bad in general or anything, but when it comes down to it, here's my reasons for one:
1.) God of War 3, and on a lesser side LBP
2.) $5 less a month
It may be good for some people, but definitely not for me.

So the PS3 is closing the gap still, eh? The PS2's regeneration is finally meeting some of the expectations of the former. Well, that's good, I suppose. A year younger than the 360, and still catching up in sales isn't bad. Anyone have the number of units sold for 2009 for the 360? Because that number up against this year's PS3 number is more or less what we could compare. In terms of lifecycle, that's what we'll be considering.

Lastly, you'll still get nearly the same amount of Americans (a little less, but close) because most of the people in Asia will not prefer to use English while online gaming, and thus you won't be matched with them (unless PSN takes no consideration to matching you with people who speak your language, in which case PSN should die in a fire)
I don't know why this site has such an undercurrent of hate toward the USA, yes we have faults, but this idea that we have way more assholes per population unit is just wrong, and it's getting tiresome.
