By the looks of it you have never played Battlefield 2. That is the reason it is going to be a different experience. The addition of 64 person multi player, large maps and jets transform the game from a frantic shooter into an epic battle.

Because according to EA, "sandbox games", like the openness of Bad Company, suck. Linearity for all!

This is looking less and less like a battlefield game. They can call me when they remake 2142.

I've seen it played in person. Personally, I'm not a fan of large open maps for multiplayer action. Many times, as a player, I'm forced to trek long distances or wait on vehicle to spawn. Once near the hotbed of the action, I may get a couple of kills, but most likely die then repeat the above scenario. Squad spawn is a nice feature, but 'randoms' in many instances don't utilize it, because they are unfamiliar with other players. Also, from many of the experiences I've had, it is very difficult to co-ordinate strategy in big games, which is a huge turn off for casual players that just want to hop into the action.

I've found that smaller-based multiplayer games like Shadowrun and Halo offer better team experiences. The larger the multiplayer support the less impact random players have on the game and becomes an experience tailored more for clans or guilds who can co-ordinate actions. Battlefield 1942, the arcade game for Xbox 360, was pretty good though at offering larger scaled battle, but kept intense action. The level design was more suited for that though. IMO better than any battlefield I've played.

You're right though, earlier installments in the Battlefield franchise were something different to CoD. That's why I think Medal of Honor has fallen flat on its face. It didn't offer anything different from the CoD experience and it wasn't better. As much as people may harp on CoD or on Halo, they both have the best aim mechanics and gun feedback for console shooters. That's part of the reason, I think, they've done so well. The game mechanic is highly polished even if people aren't a fan of the gameplay.

So someone who works at Ea says that EA's next shooting will beat Call of Duty. Where have I heard that before...

Even if it's the better game. The casuals and the 'HARDCORRREES!' will buy COD simply because it has the COD name on it.

I bet if they slapped Call of Duty: Real COD Fishing game out and say they are pushing the series in a new direction the same morons would buy the crap.

Personally I'd rather see something else take the FPS 'crown' can microsoft not let Rare out of the dungeon and let them make a good Perfect Dark?

... and I will buy neither of them! Seriously though, if EA makes a shooter that isn't anything like COD I'd be more interested in playing it.

He never said that it was "designed" to beat Call of Duty just that he believed it will be able to go compete with Activi$ion in the shooter marketplace?

Will it be better than next CoD? Certainly.
Will it surpass next CoD's revenue? Nope.

It takes time to bring a giant like that down.

I stand corrected, but seeing as how they have the same shapes and purpose as transportation you can see why I got them mixed up and why I stand by my earlier prediction. Really, what's the main difference between the two birds or even from Battlefield 3 or CoD?

The huey is much smaller, and is more like a little bird chopper mixed with a black hawk.
anyway, the game is gonna own. I predended COD ended with COD 4

Please, please, please don't SERIOUSLY compete. I play Battlefield to take a break from the unintelligent grindfest that is Call of Duty, and the audience it tailors to... I play Battlefield with my 3 ex-army friends and we literally play it with military precision and have a great time, we communicate, and get rewarded for playing as a team, and have a laugh.

And if Battlefield scrapes some of the scum off the pedestal that Call of Duty has claimed it will become a lesser game in my eyes, simply for the fact they feel they need some of Call of Duty's fan base.

Battlefield has the better community, and I wish it to stay as such, moving to be the new "Call of Duty" will send the community off a cliff.

...That's a good main thing to focus on when making a game... making it for the sole purpose of being better than another game...

nice :S

Because it has planes. And the graphics are outstanding. And its being build for the PC.

EDIT: God damn, learn from my mistakes. Don't read two threads at one time. Bad things happen.
