I don't think kids know much about how modern battlefields work anyway, so why should it matter much? Their counterpart has gone into completely silly fictional territory anyway and Battlefield itself featured a sci-fi installment. Even if people are largely ignorant about WW1, I don't think its much of a valid concern.
While I did learn about the two World Wars in my school history lessons, I don't think I gained an appreciation of just how tits up WW2 was until I went up on Omaha beach in MOHAA.
