Disregarding the.. ending... A play through in quick succession would be jarring as each game plays quite a bit differently, because each time they made a sequel they just had to change the combat.

I don't know; they could just turn the whole thing over to Night Dive, let them release it through GOG, and rake in the profits...

Yeah, probably not going to happen, at least this decade. But I can dream.
